What would be your IDEAl hours to work?

My hours now are pretty ideal. I work from 7-3:30. It's going to be really hard to go back to 8-5, I love getting off work at 3:30.

My hours are close. I work 3pm-10 am on fridays (19 hours) and sat and sun 11p-9 am (10 hours sleeping overnights ) that gives me 4 days off a week off. my other job I am a sub and fill in overnights when they need me. sometimes I dont hear from them for 2 weeks, sometimes they have me work my 4 days off which means working 10 nights straight. I think it would be better to consistently fill in 2 shifts per week so I didn't get so burnt out. I'm not willing to be put on a schedule permanently because I like the flexibility to turn down shifts if I want. I also love being awake at home with DH (SAHD) and the kids all day.

I have hopes that when DD starts kindergarten I'll be able to adjust my schedule to something similar to this. I currently work 8:30 - 5:00 (or 5:30)

Our commute time is an hour so by the time we get home it's a rush to get dinner and bath-time and bedtime all figured out.

I switched to this schedule in order to get my son from the bus stop after school. Dh does drop off and I do pick up (usually). When he was in kindergarten, I worked 8:30-5 so I could do drop off while dh did pick up. But I really like this schedule.

I liked my 11:45-12:45, 1 hour a day 5 days a week job.lol

I was working 8:55-12:24 M-F but I am switching to 8:55-3:16 in the fall, working Monday, Wednesday & alternating Fridays. There are quite a few school holidays that land on Mondays.lol

I work a combo from the office and from home - I love my hours. I usually work while ds is in school - so about 7:30am-2pm during the school year and about 9am-12:30pm during the summer. I sometimes have work to complete at home, and I usually do that in the early morning after dh has left for work, but ds is not yet up.

I would love to do EOW doubles. Like go in on Sat at 7 AM and leave at 11 PM then go back on Sunday for 7Am and leave at 11PM. OHHH sooo great lol. It would give me 15 hours a week. PERFECT

I would love a reduced hour schedule. With commuting time thrown in, I'm gone from 6:30-5 and work is from 7-4. 7-3 would be much better and so would having a day off during the week.

I only work pt now, 5am-8am M-F and 3 hours (flexible) Sunday afternoon/evening, plus a couple of hours to complete random admin stuff throughout the week. When I was ft I worked those hours plus 3 hours in the afternoon M-F (flexible). I am VERY tired of getting up so early, but it was totally my choosing and has enabled me to only work while DS is asleep or with DH. I won't be able to continue with early mornings once the new baby is born, so my plan is to cut back my hours and work evenings when DH gets home (I work from home).

my dream would be to only work mornings...say 9-1 every day. Some little 1/2 day class, perhaps, or parent/child program. That way, I could get my kid to school, be home before him to do a chore, prep dinner, and kick back a little before he's back from school.

I'm happy to do some work at home in the evenings, say 9-11pm a couple of times a week.

This will never happen, btw!

Now that all my little ones are in school for my outside the house job I would love to work nothing but 9:30-3:00 so I can get them on the bus and be home in time to get them off.
Now for my at home business that is a never ending job and 'hours' dont really apply ) but I love the work.

My boss is pretty flexible, so I have been doing 7:30-4:30 which is nice. I think 7-4 would be even better, but we tend to get quite a few emergency calls in the afternoon and I'm not sure I could realistically make it work.

8am to 4pm would be PERFECT. I currently work 8:30am to 5pm. Not much a difference, but it is when it comes to traffic and being able to see my boys before things get busy at night and bedtimes starting rolling around!!

It's alot harder to get things done before the kid needs to be picked up. This is what I did for the last year. I was done work at 12:24, though never got out until 12:35 due to when the lady taking over came to get the boy & I could NOT leave him. It's a 15-20minute commute so I was home by 1, the kids are done school at 3:30 except wed's they're done at 2:30. It's very hard to get anything done as you're rushed.

My Dream Schedule would be 10a to 3p. No rushing in the morning, get appts done. play. And pick her back up early enough that she is not tired and still fun, with plenty of evening to play with Daddy.

Currently working 7-4 2 days a week and 3p-midnight 1 day and it is really not bad. Honestly the 4 graduate hours I am taking right now take more time away from my daugher than work.

I do choose within reason~ 7:30pm to midnight or 1, pretty much every other day. It really is perfect for us esp during dh's busy season. He gets home in time for us to eat together before I leave but I'm home in time to put the night owl nurseling to sleep before she gets crabby

I have the dream job now - just a few more hours then I'd like (37.5) aside from having to accommodate the families and teachers I work with I get to set my own hours, work from home or office (right now I'm working from Panera - on my lunch hour) I usually get my dd off to school - work until 4:30 or so - then after she's asleep get in any extra hours as needed (9-11)
My dh also has a very flexible schedule - he's a professor - we rarely have schedule conflicts and now the MIL is here (moved to town last year) we have her for back up if we both have a commitment that goes past pick up times...
we are indeed very blessed -

My ideal would be to be able to go in at any time to pick up my work, take it home, and bring it back complete, since very little of my work actually requires my physical presence in the office. If someone needed to reach me, they would have my phone number and email and if the discussion needed to happen face to face, we'd schedule an appointment. They would just need to give me a computer that I can take and a phone and pay a portion of my internet service (because that is required). Oh, and a gas allowance for any work-related running around, such as to meetings on the other side of town, I have to do. If, though, I had to be in the office, but could set my own hours, probably 7 am to 3 pm, and do my PT from 2-3 pm. My brain functions best in the early morning and that is when I have the most energy to tackle stuff. By 9-10 am, I'm actually starting downhill (and guess when I get to work...)

10-3 MTWR during the school year would be ideal, and then maybe telecommuting with occasional teleconferences between 10 and noon during summer. I need reduced hours during summer because of all the work on the farm at home. I love working short days when they kids are in school. I have time to get in a workout before work and still meet the bus.
