PERIODS and Exclusively Breastfeeding? - Page 2

Most bfmothers I know all got them much later than I did.

I dont know, it could just be coincidence but it seems the more children I have the longer it takes for my period to come back. With my first it was only around 3 months or so (I was very thin at the time) and with my youngest it was a few months over a year before it returned (and now I am very overweight). There seemed to be a gradual increase in time for return with each child. So who knows? That has just been my observation though.

I'm pretty thin (5'8", 130lbs) and actually lost weight after my daughter was born- gained 10 lbs overall during pregnancy, and lost them all (and then some) in the first few days after her birth. So I'm not sure weight has much to do with it, at least not in my situation.

I WOHM, so I started pumping at about 6 weeks, she started getting bottles at 8 weeks. Still, she was breastmilk-only.

Interestingly enough, I got my period back the very day after we started her on solids on her 6-month birthday. BINGO. Got pregnant (unintentionally) that cycle.

I do think genetics have something to do with it. My mom was SAHM, and EBF all of us kids. I'm the oldest, she became pregnant with my sister when I was 2 months old, and then when my sister was 6 months, she became pregnant again. Her mother was the very same way.

My LO is 6weeks on Friday. I ovulated last week. I am EBF. I EBF DD1 too and AF came back at 6weeks PP. I kind of expected it in a way - my eldest 3 siblings were born with 21months between the eldest and the youngest, despite my mother BFing them all. Some of us just don't get a break.

As much as having to sort out BC and deal with AF is annoying, i'm actually glad my sex drive is also back already (though we're still too tired to do anything about it!)
