A carnivore party? Help!

This should be a fun topic here on MDC

My soon to be 5 year old has requested his birthday party to be a carnivore party. Interestingly, this child DOES NOT eat meat!! We are not vegetarian, but my sweet ds refuses to eat meat and always has. He loves animals, so I can see where he's coming from, but I don't know how to execute this party! When I asked ds what this would look like, he said something like, "There would be a T-Rex, a velociraptor, a lion, a cheetah and a kimodo dragon!" He actually named about 10 carnivorous animals, but those I remember.

So, please creative mamas, give me some ideas for this carnivore party! What will the cake look like, a ribeye steak?!

It sounds like he isn't so much wanting the "meat" part of the carnivore party, but the scary animals who are the carnivores. So I'd make the cake a wild mengarie of a whole bunch of big, sharp-toothed, growly beasts like T-Rexes, lions, tigers, sharks, cheetas, etc...

I'd make it as "teethy" and scary and growly as I could....

I agree, the party is about the animals - maybe a jungle theme to go with the carnivores?

I'd look online for design ideas for masks of the carnivores that the kids can make (yay, art project). Personally, I would get a steak or bone cake, but a jungle/dinosaur cake would work, too. Maybe do a game where you give clues and everyone has to guess the carnivore. Pin the bone on the carnivore's mouth? Spaghetti-guts with bone-shaped garlic bread for a meal? I know I've seen T-rex pinata's at stores.

Cool (and hilarious) idea.

Consider getting vampire teeth for everyone, maybe pick up a carnivorous plant for fun? Cake ideas are tricky though - maybe a really large, toothy mouth (or cupcakes that looked like they had large toothy mouths and were ABOUT TO EAT YOU!!!). The 'carnivore jungle' is a pretty cool way to swing your ideas, I think.


As an aside, I read the carnivore but was initially thinking of 'cannibal' , which would be a pretty weird kid party theme. At least he didn't pick that.

Thanks everyone for your extremely creative ideas!! I know it's not about the meat, but about the animals, it is just SO funny that my herbivore child wants a carnivore party!!

I love the bone cake idea. He had a t-rex cake a couple years ago, so I'd rather not do that. And I love the vampire teeth idea! And "guess the carnivore" --brilliant!

OOh! How about cupcakes with the vampire teeth mounted on top so they are about to bite you!? Then the kids could lick the icing off and use the vampire teeth!

OMG that is SO funny! Actually, because although my son refuses to eat meat, he will on occasion eat BACON!! so fun!
