Need reccomendations for NB EC friendly diaper

I'm planning to start EC early this time with my newborn. With my first we did not start until 8 months and we used Bum Genius diapers which aren't great for ecing or laundry. I would like to get a bunch of prefolds for around the house and a cute fitted diaper made with natural fibers that's will still let the baby know when he has wet for when we are out and about. Does anyone have a diaper they used and liked? I was looking at the Little Beetle fitted trim diaper or the fitted hemp diaper with their wool covers. Has anyone tried those?

thanks

I really like our kissaluvs, size 0, which at almost 5 months my stringbean girl is just starting to outgrow (she was 7lb at birth). They are not bulky, nothing has ever leaked out the legs, are an absorbent cotton terry (which feels wet when they are, which is why some people don't like them) and were not too pricey--I bought some at closeout prices, and the rest barely used (paid between $5-$10 per dipe). I think new they run $12-$14. I also like that there is just one snap on each side--quicker to take off/put on. On the down side, they do take more than one dryer cycle to dry. But that's so of all the dipes in my stash.

I have 1 little beetle trim hemp dipe. I like it, but the sewn-in flappy insert drove my hubby crazy when he was doing dipe laundry right after the birth and Max was still pooping in her dipes (not so often now!) because it made it harder to pre-rinse the poop off it. I think it was a lot more $ than the others, though.

I also have 1 little beetle one-size wool cover. I like it b/c it will see us through, but it is bulky on them when they are little. My favorite wool covers are made by a WAHM on Etsy--Natural Blue Cloud. (Mine have snaps though.) On the plus side here, they come lanolized, little beetle's don't.

I liked the green mtn diaper infant fitted diaper w- velcro. (all cotton)
I also used the green mtn diaper nb sized fitted prefolds w- velcro but for some reason she stopped making the fitted prefolds with velcro- which is too bad as they are a great diaper.

we used a prefold tri-folded and belt...with wool cover over for out. can be messy if you don't catch poops in time, also g-diaper covers hold prefolds well

my babies always grow really really fast in the beginning so i never invested in anything but prefolds and covers in multiple sizes for the early days. we just used the prefolds w/out a cover at home, and then did them up with a snappi and a cover when out and about (i always liked the bummis whisper wrap - relatively inexpensive and never had leaks). once they slowed down a little bit i got some other things, but the first 4-6 months were more or less exclusively prefold. i did invest in some one-size pocket dipes with my youngest and used those sometimes for long car rides and such because she really hated being wet. then we switched to ec store trainers around 4 months - and even though she was like 90+ percentile for height and weight, those medium fit her till she was well over a year old. though interestinglly i bought her some larges around 9 months and those fit too, and would still fit now if she needed them (she's 26 months).

if you have a peanut i can see spending some money on some fitteds, but for my kiddos a kissaluvs or other newborn fitted that would've fit them at birth would've been outgrown in less than a month. heck, my ginormous son outgrew his infant bucket by length at 2.5 months old he was 28 pounds at a year, and people were always asking me if he was 3! my girls weren't quite that bad, but grew really fast and had chunky thighs, so it just wasn't worth the expense until they slowed down a little.

if i ever have another one, i'm going to do a pf with a belt - my SIL did this with her son and it was awesome the way the front flipped down and then got tucked back in. perfect for ec. when she went out and about in the cold weather she'd put a pair of wool or fleece split-crotch pants on with the diaper over. it was awesome, so simple and efficient. and you can get dozens of prefolds for what a few AIO trainers would cost.

the other awesome thing about prefolds is that they are so versatile once you're done with them. i dyed a bunch of ours and now use them as un-paper towels in the kitchen, and DH took some of the more stained/beat up ones out to the barn for shop rags. in fact we still have some shop rag diapers from when my 7 year old was an infant. i also gave a bunch away to a friend who has a horse farm and she said they're the best farm rags ever the environment is one of many, many reasons i chose to EC, so i like to do it as ecologically as possible. and prefolds are also the easiest to wash and dry - saving water on not having to do extra rinses and washes, plus super fast to dry and easy to line-dry.

I second kissaluvs with a wool cover....you can feel moisture/warmth with the wool cover, but it won't
