Prenancy after an abruption?

I was curious about any experiences you might have with this.

My DD was born 8 weeks early due to an abruption. I had been diagnosed with placenta previa, and at 28 weeks, was put on pelvic rest. Otherwise, I had a very healthy pregnancy, and was even given the green light to keep running several times a week by the doctor. However, I had an abruption, which was extremely scary, and although my DD was in the NICU for 7 weeks, she was very healthy and still is. Just a scary experience I don't want to repeat.

My husband and I would like to have another, but I'm very scared to. If this was to happen again, I'd have another baby in the NICU and I would have to focus my energies on that, and away from my DD (who is now 25 months). Needless to say, the situation could also be much, much worse.

So, I'm curious to know of others' experiences with this. Other moms I know who had preemies have said I would be considered "high risk" and be continuously monitored. But, am I looking at increased chances for a repeat abruption and/or bed rest? What are your experiences? Thanks!

I have no personal experience with this, but I will say that you are lucky. One of my close friends had an abruption at 27 weeks and her little girl did not survive. She has since gone on to have 3 healthy girls with absolutely no problems with the pregnancies and easy, natural births.

From what I understand it is very rare and unlikely to happen again. Good luck!
