One thing that was really special to me during my shower was this:
Everyone sits in a circle so that they can hold hands.
Take a ball of yarn, and wrap one end around the expectant mama's wrist.
Pass the ball of yarn around the circle. Each woman talks about their best wishes/blessings/hopes for the mama's labor and delivery, or for their new little one. When they are done talking, they wrap their wrist with a loop of yarn and pass it to the next woman in the circle.
When it comes back around, wrap the other end around mama's other wrist.
Talk about how a circle of women support each pregnant mother as she brings a new life into the world. Admire the circle of string linking each woman together.
Cut the strings between each woman, and tie them on.
The women all agree to wear their yarn braclet until they hear that the mother has had a safe labor and delivery.
This really meant alot to me because so many of my friends and family that were able to come to my shower could not be closeby during my pregnancy and post partum. When things got rough near the end of pregnancy, and in early labor, I had my bracelets to remind me of my circle of support.
Have fun planning!
