Hello everybody! We recently had a semen analysis completed and have the results. My OB-GYN is concerned because his morphology results were borderline. I wanted to get your thoughts on this matter. We have been trying for 2 years to conceive. Do you think his results from this one test could affect our fertility?
Sperm Concentration = 94 million/mL
Motility = 62%
Forward Progression:
Rapid = 0%
Moderate = 60%
Sluggish = 30%
Non-progressive = 10%
Morphology (strict criteria normal range is 5% or greater)
Normal = 5.5%
Abnormal = 94.5%
Head defects = 73.0%
Tail defects = 12.0%
Neck & Midpiece defects = 7.0%
Cytoplasmic droplets = 2.5%
Morphology comments:
The most commonly observed head defects seen during the morphology analysis were pyriform. The tail defects seen consisted of bent, coiled and rare hairpin tails. The midpiece defect most commonly observed were asymmetrical head/neck attachment and bent necks. Cytoplasmic droplets were seen attached to the midpiece portion of the spermatozoa.
