am i ridiculous for liking this name? opinions needed. - Page 2

I'm not media-educated at all and yet I immediately associated it with Jennifer. I wouldn't use it...JMHO.

I actualy read in a tabloid that a pregnant celebrity (can't remember who at this point) was going to name her daughter Annison after Jennifer Anniston. So, it will not only be a celebrity name, but a celebrity baby name as well. Sorry but two thumbs down from me!

Jennifer Aniston for me too. I wouldn't use it.

I immediately really liked Aniston! Yes, I soon thought of Jennifer Aniston. But SO WHAT? She's not some despicable person. She's beautiful and classy, even if she was on "Friends." And the nonconformist in me says "who cares what everyone thinks!" That is probably why I'm naming my new dd "Marley", even though almost everyone who hears it says, "Like the movie Marley and Me?" which I've never seen and don't care about.

I do think it is more a girl's name. I disagree that a girl would have any serious "Anus-ton" problems (though a boy might). I really seriously like this name, and hate to see it shot down so quickly by everyone! But, if the majority of people react strongly against it, maybe it's not the right choice. Sigh.

Love the nickname "Ani", too!

P.S. With my first daughter, I was reading an article about Racquel Welch and her daughter was mentioned. Her name was Tahnee and I loved it! But didn't want to just copy it. So I changed it to "Tahna". Maybe you could do a variation of Aniston? Aliston? Astin? Anissa? Just an idea if you are really stuck on it.

I wouldn't use it, but I don't see any particular problem with it. I'm sure some people will give you flack for it, but if you're prepared for that and can handle it and really love it, go for it. Only as a girl's name though IMO.

I like it. Go with what YOU like

Sorry, I'm still voting for Eilish

You asked for brutal right?

To me, it sounds like a name from the stereotypical American suburbanite you mentioned. And yep, I think of Jennifer Anniston. Not that she's a bad person, but not someone I'd want my child's name associated with.

It is not a name I would ever use.

Aniston isn't one I instantly like, but Anissa actually sounds really awesome. Hmmm... we don't have any girl names we like so far.. Thanks!

hehe, cherrybomb. Ailish is definitely still the top runner. while i still think Aniston is pretty cool (for inexplicable reasons) it's just so not me and am pretty close to getting over it. just as names like Emmerson, Addison, etc totally aren't. (but appreciate how they are for some)

ever have a name picked out for a gender you end up not having and then years later, reflect on that name and wonder wth you were thinking? yeah, that'd probably be one of those.

the poster above mentioned liking Anissa--funny, my name is close to this as my mother's first choice was Anissa but she worried about it being turned into "anus". just an FYI.
