Does anyone know what happens if you get a positive GBS and have babe by c/s? Do you/ baby still need ABX's?

I saw in the ACOG recommendations that abx aren't necessary if it's a planned c/s with no labor. I'm not sure why labor would make any difference -- if the baby doesn't go through your vagina, how can your vagina give him/her GBS?

Yeah, I came back positive this time too. I was not too happy about it since I didn't want to go to the hospital until I really had to this time. I had kind of assumed that since I was negative with my previous 2 pregnancies that I would be this time too. Oh well.

That's my reaction too. I managed to pass the GD test but felt like I wouldn't be able to pass this too.

And now my water might have broken last night but there's no way I'm going to the hospital to have them check when they might make me stay.

i know the feeling. I had an u/s on tuesday for growth and positioning because she was transverse at 32, and my fluid has gone from 10.1 to 7.3 so they are concerned i am leaking fluid. I was also having contractions for monday and tuesday. so they are rechecking my fluid level and doing a BPP today, I assume that's why they did the GBS swab early, in case I am leaking fluid because I was only 35w3d when they did it and I have an appt at 36w2d when they easily could have done it then... so now I am concerned that if my fluid is still low, or lower today they are going to want to keep me. And not to be TMI but last night when I took my pantyliner off it didn't smell ammonia-ish it was different... so now I am even more worried.... I am NOT ready for her to be born. I mean yes I want to meet her, but I want to wait at least 2 more weeks when I will be 38 weeks... 3.5 preferably when they have the induction planned anyway

I understand. I'm in shock that I might be having a 37 weeker after going over with my first two.

I soaked through 2 overnight pads and then a prefold last night, so I'm pretty sure I've at least got a leak here. I've been told I had tons of fluid for the past couple weeks (not measured, just palpated), so at least I've got plenty to spare.

oh man that is a big leak! my leak would be small if there is one, but the tech was really concerned that I only had 7cm of fluid, and I haven't been measuring the same (at 30 weeks I was measuring 32, at 32 I was measuring 33 and at 34 I was measuring 33.5) so I think there has to be something wrong

Both my first two were born in the caul, so I have no idea how much water is normal or what to expect. Since I got out of bed, I don't seem to be leaking anymore (which makes it easier to not haul towels around after me).

I hope everything's okay for you!
