Getting baby on tummy for naps?

It WAY too hot right now to swaddle DD (4 months). She won't take decent naps unswaddled, however. I thought I'd try putting her on her tummy to see if that helps her sleep longer. I usually swaddle, nurse her to sleep, then set her down gently. When she's not swaddled, it's really hard to put her down without waking her up and when I've tried turning her onto her belly, she wakes up completely. Suggestions? I was trying to see if I could nurse her side-lying while she's on her tummy, but that just doesn't work!

My 2 month old is on her belly sleeping peacefully right now.
My monitor is so loud I can hear her breathing.
She will only sleep for 20 min at a time on her back or side during the day.
She fights being swaddled and cries when she cant have her arms out, so I dont have that option anymore.
When they sleep on their backs they feel very insecure which prevents them from going deep into sleep (which is the theory of why it decreases sids)
When they are on their belly they feel very safe and protected and dont have the startle reflex contantly waking them up.
All of my babies have taken some naps on their bellies. I just make sure to watch them in the livingroom, and I know they are expensive, but the video monitor is a wonderful thing to have. I dont have to hover over her every second because I can see every little face and move she makes - and carry it around with me while doing housework.

We still swaddle Cecilia (3 months) for naps and bedtime since she won't sleep well without either. Can you adjust the temperature in your house? If not, Aden and Anais make large, very lightweight muslin swaddle blankets that I know a lot of people here use. That plus having her just in her diaper should keep her cool enough for sleep! And if there's a fan you can have on where she's sleeping, that helps too!

Thanks for the replies! I guess what I'm looking for are ideas of how to actually get her on her tummy once she's asleep, logistically-speaking. She naps swaddled in our ACed bedroom when we're at home, but I take her with me to work and there's no AC there. I have a fan on her little sleeping spot in my office, but it's still over 80 degrees, so any kind of cover would be too hot - and she sure hates being hot! Is anyone able to make the transfer from sleeping in-arms to on-tummy without waking your LO up? How do you do it? Thanks!
