Spitting up-Overeating?

My DD is almost 3 weeks old. She is a spitter but it doesn't seem to bother her. we are working on burping her better and putting her in an upright position for a while after she eats.

One thing though, she basically nurses from 5-10pm straight which I know isnt uncommon but she seems to eat and eat and eat until she throws up. By the end of the night, she is spitting up straight milk...not even the curdled spit up so I am wondering if her stomach is just so full that it come right back up? Should I try to limit her nursing or is this common with new babies? My ODD wasn't a spitter so this is new to me!

Thanks!

Nah,
Spit happens- its fine!
Mine all did/do this.
Sounds like you have a lot of milk like me.
The babys body is just getting rid of what it doesnt need.
Keep burp cloths EVERYWHERE.
Its messy and you just need to stay on top of the laundry so your house doesnt stink.

I wouldn't necessarily limit her nursing, but if you've just nursed her less than an hour ago, offer her the same breast she was on last. You might also try a clean finger for her to suck on and see if that pacifies her. If she's truly hungry for milk, it won't satisfy her for long . Also, babywearing as well as skin to skin contact in the evenings is really important. A lot of the time, overstimulation during the day results in a baby who just isn't content at night and wants to comfort nurse pretty much constantly. The thing about comfort nursing is that it is about contact with Mama and sucking. It's not generally about being hungry and wanting milk. Sometimes holding a baby against your bare chest while giving them something other than a breast to suck on will comfort her.

But, if it doesn't work and she fusses, give her the boob and get lots of burp clothes .
