Does anyone have any suggestions for something that I can use to carry my 1 year old 20 lbs little girl around in a hip carry. She is just getting too heavy for me to carry her like that without some support and the Ergo hip carry is just not comfortable for either of us plus I have to redo the straps each time which is a pain. Ideally it would be relatively inexpensive, easy on/off and if it isn't too much to ask reasonably attractive. Thoughts anyone?

Do you like wrap style carriers? You could do a hip carry with a wrap, and I personally think it's also more comfortable than the Ergo hip carry, and it can be less of a hassle depending on how you choose to tie the wrap for hip carry
this is one example- there is a two shoulder hip carrying method but I can't seem to find the directions for that one online.

You need a Scootababy! The only thing it does is a hip carry, but it does it soooooo well. It's incredibly comfortable, and very (very) fast up-down-up-down. If you're a hip carry kind of girl, this is it.

For a 20lb 1 year old, I'd suggest either a ring sling or a pouch. I agree with you about the Ergo hip carry. Totally uncomfy and a pain to readjust. A ring sling is what I use for hip carries about 90% of the time. It's easy to get a good, solid fit. Comfy for me and babe for longer periods of time. I have two ring slings that I LOVE and I am currently attempting to make my own, thanks to my new sewing machine that DH bought me.
I use a hotsling pouch for super quick, in-and-out trips. (Like to the bank, pharmacy, Trader Joe's for just a few things, etc.)
I know a lot of people use wraps or mei tais for hip carries, but I just find all those straps and extra fabric too much to deal with.
