i bought the Berkey after rave reviews and i have had it less than 6 months and my water taste gross again! the filter is suppose to last like 11years! its just me and my 9 m/o who use the water so its not like super excessive use. am i doing something wrong? am i suppose to clean it? how? i have the black filters btw

Berkey water filter issue

I would recommend cleaning your filters.
it's really easy, should have come with a brush or scratch pad, but if not, just just use any scrubby type thing and scrub those black filters. I normally use the back of a scrubby sponge or a scrub brush.
Also I would check your connections. Are the filters still in there tight? There isn't any tap water that is just leaking thru the holes the filters sit in? have you run a dye test lately? You should have received some food coloring liquid, you put the color in up top, check your reservior down below, if there is color in the filtered water, your system is leaking around those filter holes.
You might also have really bad tap water, so those filters are going to clog faster than for others.
We've had our Berkey for at least 3-4 years now. Have cleaned the filters 2-3 times when they slow down, no bad tastes. We used to be on city water, but now well, and have not noticed any differences between the 2 water sources while using our filter.
