Is it possible that I miscarried? (TMI)

My periods have been somewhat irregular (15-24 days) the entire year and I have chalked it up to getting older (34) and stress-work full time, 3 kids, full time PhD student, DH lost his job in the beginning of the year, remodeling our home, etc, etc.

I didn’t get my period in June, took a total of 3 tests and they call came back negative. I went to the NP late in June who also confirmed with a negative test and we agreed that I would wait another month to see if my cycle got back on track. My period started on June 30 (57 day cycle) and I am still bleeding. It got considerably heavier about 48 hours ago, very clotty 24 hours ago and last night I passed 2 large clots that were about fifty cent piece size. Since then the bleeding has dropped off considerably.

I have never knowingly miscarried…is it possible that this is what happened? Or is my period just really wonky? Would you wait this out to see what happens next month or should I go back to the NP and consider some sort of bc/hormone?

My best guess would be a wonky period. Seems very possible, esp considering your cycle irregularities in the recent past, and because of the BFNs. I would go back to your NP and ask about hormone testing. In fact I'm surprised she hasn't already wanted to do any testing considering your short cycles (it's my understanding that 15 days is out of the range of normal).

I think it is possible you miscarried, although generally you would have had a positive pregnancy test, but not always.

I also think it's possible your cycles are just wonky.

I would try to chart/use NFP..mainly for informational purposes. Knowing exactly what is going on in your cycles (when you ovulate, luteal phase length, etc.) would be very helpful.

I do...and I have been like clockwork for 22 years; 28 day cycle, ovulating on day 14. That is why this is so frustrating, for the past 6 months nothing about my cycle seems to make sense.

I'm almost 24 and have been having this issue since having my daughter in january. I went from clockwork periods to total irregularity. I had my first PP period on May 5. Didnt have another until June 24 and then started bleeding 5 days ago out of the blue and passing clots. All negative tests.

All that to say I feel your pain. Hopefully things will even out and go back to normal. I'm actually contemplating hormonal birth control because of it.
