Moses Basket Repair

I have a moses basket from when I was a child, and needless to say the bottom of the basket needs some reinforcement!

Any ideas on how to repair/strengthen a moses basket?

What materials would be best? Raffia? Palm Leaf?

Suggestions on technique would be sweet also!

Could you post pictures of the areas that need repair?

I would guess palm leaf would be better than raffia, I'm pretty sure our basket is palm leaf.

We repaired/strengthened the handles on our using some strong cord which we bought from a rock climbing place. We wove it through the handles and right across the bottom so the sort rather than the handles would take the weight if the basket was picked up by the handles. Not that we used it to carry the baby but we didn't want any accidents should we want to move a sleeping LO.

I will get some pics posted soon....the cord sounds like a good idea, i bet I could make it decorative somehow!
