This is going to be a running log of our NAET treatments and how they work for us.
We found a practitioner who is treating both me and DD at the same time (since she's still nursing, and I have possible intolerances, so it's hard to tell what is her reaction and what is possibly my reaction manifesting through her, if that makes any sense.)
We had a consultation last week and got our first experience with muscle testing. I talked about it on the chat thread a bit, but to sum up- it blew my mind. I was expecting it to be interesting and informative. I was definitely not expecting to have such obvious and drastic results. Crazy.
So we went for our first treatment today. Today's treatment was for egg mix. I got needles (acupuncture), some acupressure, and massage; DD just got the acupressure.
The method they use is to go through a list of 12(?) things first, rather than trying to target specific foods. The list includes specific minerals, vitamins, sugar, and other inflammatory items (like eggs I guess). Supposedly, once those things are cleared, people will lose a lot of their intolerances because they are actually reacting to these pieces of the food, rather than the food itself. I'm finding this theory really interesting, because it could explain a lot of DD's mystery reactions. I know she reacts horribly to supplemental calcium- we muscle tested calcium and it was a BIG positive for her. And vitamin A- same thing. So when I said that I suspect she's having a slight reaction to avocados, he said that was because they are high in vitamin A, and that's what she's reacting to. I'm wondering if that might explain her mystery hives whenever she eats meat from a bone. We eat the same lamb shoulder steaks every night, from the same farm/store, specially cut on clean machines. She never ever has a reaction to the meat itself, but when she chews the meat off the bone, she'll get hives wherever the bone rubs on her skin.
Anyway.... I thought it was really interesting, and I'm curious how this will work out for us. Our next appointment is next Friday, and that one will be a 2nd egg "booster" and something else... don't remember. But he told us that most people are 97% cleared of the allergen after the first egg mix, then totally cleared after the 2nd mix. You only have to avoid the food for 24 hours after treatment, but if you're not totally cleared he said your reaction might be more severe than it had been previous. So we're waiting until after our 2nd treatment to try egg.
DD is IgE, contact reactive to egg, so it will be really easy to see if the treatment worked for us (I'll put a tiny bit of raw egg on her arm- normally that would mean instant hives.)
So- that's where we are right now, and I'll try to remember to come back every week and update this as our treatment continues!

Oh- I just found this link on the provider's website about the initial list of things they clear. #1 is what we had done today; not sure we are doing the same order as this list or not. (And they aren't all necessarily done to everyone- only the ones you muscle test positive to.)

) and clear each one of those if she's still reacting to them. He said that he's cleared himself for vaccines from his childhood that were still affecting him.

But yeah, who knows. Maybe we've just got really bad timing for meeting this guy. Or maybe this is just a HUGE sign from the universe that this is yet another treatment that won't do s**t for us, so we should save the money for something else.... arg.
