One really puffy eye suddenly. Serious?

Hi mamas,

My DS (15 mo) woke up this morning with a REALLY puffy bag under one eye. It is colorless and doesn't seem to hurt or itch. He has a mosquito bite on his cheekbone on that side. Could that be causing it? It started swelling last night, but it wasn't so bad as this morning.

We're out of town, so I'm not doing the ped thing unless this could be serious.
Is it just an allergic reaction to the mosquito bite? Wouldn't it itch or hurt?

Thank you!

It could be a reaction from the mosquito bite. DD has reactions like that and they tend not to itch or hurt for the first couple of days. The other thing it could be is pink-eye. Is it gooy at all or just puffy?

Just puffy for now...No redness or goo at all. If it is a mosquito reaction, will it itch him in a couple of days? has that been your experience with your DD? Do you just ride it out or give Benadryl?

Sound like the reactions my son has to mosquitos; if thats the case it will fade on its own within a few days.

It should just disappear on its own in a couple of days. I wouldn't worry about giving him benadryl if it isn't bothering him. It seems like very few bites ever end up itching.
