Okay, so we introduced solids, so where did all the poops go?!

DD is six months and has been trying to eat off our plate for a month now. We just gave her some sweet potatoes and a little banana to taste. . .and she hasn't had a poop since! Is this normal?! It has been 2.5 days. Do I stop giving her any "solids" until she poops? I'm new to this, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question! I researched it and the best I could come up with is some babies are constipated for almost two weeks at a time! HUH?! She is EBF, and has poopy diapers 3-5x a day before the sweet potatoes.

Thanks mamas! I never knew I'd be so obsessed with poop!

I wouldn't worry about it too much if she's not acting uncomfortable. I would switch up what you're feeding though so that it's not just bananas and sweet potato. Some fruit may help get things moving. Pears seem to do the trick often. She will probably get into a new pooping routine as her body adjusts to having solid food to digest.

Wait! Just wait! Poops are suddenly less frequent, but a whole lot more stinky! The first time I saw DD's "real" poop, I got such a shock I jumped and the dang thing rolled out of the diaper and onto the floor...

I started to add a teaspoon or so of prune juice to her fruit in the morning, to push things along a bit. My baby book assures me up to 7 days without poop is perfectly normal for babies over 3 or so months.

Bananas are very constipating and a lot of babies have a hard time pooping after eating bananas. Some suggest that it is not a good first food to start with. I would try fruit like already suggested and avocado as a first food. My daughter used to poop 3-5 times a day and now only poops every third or fourth day even though I haven't started solids yet (just read lots about it. Those diapers are really messy but she is fine and perfectly happy

Thank you, mamas for the reassurance! She finally had a poop today after 4 days of nothing. She seemed, shall we say, relieved. I'll switch up the food options, and know that it may take a few days either way.
