Prefolds in Pockets

I was wondering what pocket diapers look like with prefolds stuffed in them. I do like my sons diaper trim, but I hate the smells that microfiber has if it's used all night. In fact, I don't even like the smell of bamboo when it's soaked all night. I think cotton has been the only material that doesn't have a funky smell after a night of use.

Does anyone mind sharing a picture of a pocket stuffed with a prefold on their kiddo?

Also, what size of a prefold do you get?

We stuff our Rita Rumps (two layers of flannel) with Gerber prefolds. They stay pretty trim. We don't use them over night though.

I know a PF in a pocket wouldn't come close to holding my little guy through the night.

But I don't worry about trimness at all during the night - my guy can't sit in his night-time dipe, and can barely crawl, it's so bulky. And during the day I can't keep him still long enough to eat half the time.

I use premium PFs in medium FBs with great success, even overnight for my toddler. They are bulky, to be sure, but not really any MORE bulky than the same prefold folded the same way in a Thirsties DuoWrap.

My DS is mostly potty trained now, so we only use dipes at night, and the difference in bulk is really obvious there - from undies to big diaper. But, we have used trifolded PFs with great success for both day and nights and not been overly bothered by the bulk. If you don't need all the absorbency, a smaller PF would definitely cut down on the bulk, too.

We are laying PF's in our bumgenius pockets (not stuffing) as I want the natural fibres against DD's skin. But I have found that the PF's that work well as PF's dont work well for trimness when trifolded. Im talking about the better brands which are cut wider and are thicker. We have found the best for trifolding are the brands which are cut narrower and/or are thinner as they fit much trimmer. But even the thicker ones are not overly bulky anyway, especially for night time. They are only a little more bulky than the pocket insert. But get the small size prefolds (next up from newborn), the mediums are too long for our pockets. (that is if your pockets are med-large) HTH

Thanks! I thought they'd be really bulky when people said they added bulk. My son hates feeling wet so we had to switch to stay dry materials, but microfiber just stinks after a night of use. I was thinking of using a combo of prefolds and a thin microfiber over that.
