I have tomatoes in a large pot on my deck. The other night we had a massive storm. The next morning I discovered that one part of the plant (with my largest tomato) had been forced down and broke at the joint where that branch comes out of the main plant. It was not completely severed, so I pulled it up and tied it to a piece of bamboo in the pot. Also, the pot was completely flooded. There was a good 1-2 inches of standing water, and the soil was obviously over-saturated. I drained off the excess, but it is still super wet despite the extreme heat and sunshine we've had since then.
The problem is that the plants (there are 2) seem to be withering. The leaves are curling up and drooping. The fruit is getting wrinkly skin despite still being small and green.
What can I do? Is this because of the excess water or the broken branch? I would assume it is the water since both plants seem to be affected. My poor tomatoes. This is my first attempt at growing food and the tomatoes were finally starting to grow!
