Double strollers

I have an almost 3yrs old and a 1yr old. Right now I have the Bob single stroller and have been wearing the baby in the Ergo carrier. However it is becoming more obvious to me that my 3yrs old doesn't want to walk (she has a fit when I put the baby in the stroller) and the 1yrs old is getting heavy and is starting to grab my hair and necklace. I have been looking into the Phil & Ted Classic with the second seat, but it is so expensive and I wonder if it is worth the money. Any thoughts on this make and model? Anyone else know of a good double stoller? I have also heard that most strollers have a sit or stand attachment, has anyone used this on the Bob strollers and are they successful? I would prefer a stroller with the back/front placement instead of the side by side, as I have a small car and wonder if a side by side would fit. (The Bob barely fits in the hatch back on my Scion XD)

Anyone have any suggestions?

I just bought a Joovy (I think that's what it's called). It's a sit and stand. My daughter will be 5 in October, so, while I love the Phil and Ted and Bob, they were just way too expensive for the amount of time I expect to use it, expecially since we don't plan on having any more children. The baby is 15 mos. Anyway, we're in the city, so, handling something that isn't too wide is helpful. I think it handles really nicely. Love the wheels, it's easy to manage. I'm definitely a fan. And the price won't break your bank.

I love my phil and teds and I got the whole system for around $300 because I bought an older model. I figure when I'm finished with it I can sell it for at least $150 on craigslist. Its alot of money up front but $150 for a stroller that has lasted 2+ years was a good price for me.

I just bought the baby trend jogger (double) for my almost 4 year old and newborn. Not sure if I love it...will report back. Also not into investing in a fancy one for a short window of time...it comes w/carseat holder built in which was a selling point for me. With coupons I paid just under $200. If it's a bust/falls apart, I will take advantage of babies r us' 90 day return policy (many reviews said a wheel shook). I find that strollers are quirky so I always buy somewhere local in case I need to return or exchange.

i used to nanny for a little boy who is 3 weeks older than my middle daughter. They were about 6 months when I first began watching him. I bought a jeep stroller and loved it. It was only like $80 at babies r us, don't know why it's so expensive here. It's really great. It's quite thin for a double since its' just two unbrella strollers really and it's extremely lightweight and fits easily in my car. I had no problem setting it up and putting the babies in on my own. I ended up leaving it with his mom when we moved out of state and I almost ended up rebuying one when my youngest was born 2 days before her sister turned 3 because it's so great. I did stick with just the single stroller and a sling but it was not easy. If I had extra money I would have rebought it because a double stroller makes life a lot easier that first year.

We have a side by side that we really like. It folds up quite compactly, fits in the trunk of my Chevy Malibu, no problem - with room to spare. It fits through doors very easily too and it's easy to turn. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=3955997 We dont' have that specific one, ours is an older model. The weight limit is 90lbs, I'm not sure if that would be an issue for you.

Thanks for the responses! How do your respective strollers handle on cobblestone or uneven pavements? We are up here in New England and many of the towns we walk around have cobblestone/brick roads and sidewalks, if they have any at all! The BOB handles very well on these, so I guess I have to be prepared that it may be a little more difficult.

As for the weight issue, I think my kids will hit puberty before they hit that weight limit! My daughter (almost 3) is 24lbs and my son (11mths) is 18lbs! I think I make low fat milk

I have a 2.5 yr old and a 4 month old and just bought the Joovy Caboose sit and stand. They just had some on sale on amazon... so far I LOVE it! It's not as heavy as I thought it would be and has held up well pushing it over bumpy slate sidewalks.

I also live in New England and needed a double stroller for occasional use. I also have the BOB jogger...Anyway, we needed something that could work on rough road surfaces but that also could be reasonably brought on vacation since that is one of the main times we use a stroller (meaning not a BOB or one of the ginormous 30 pounders). I researched forever and only found one that met both of those criteria- the Baby Jogger City Mini. It is not a jogging stroller and it is NOT mini! But it does fit through a standard sized door, does fairly well on rough terrain (although nothing like the BOB- you for instance do not want to push this stroller up a big hill on a dirt road!) and is somewhat reasonable to travel with. We have been happy with it so far. Link: http://www.diapers.com/Product/Produ...roductId=18411

i 2nd the baby jogger mini...i know it doesn't match your exact request but it is an amazing stroller. i actually can push it up a hill that is not normal terrain (i was winded for sure though) but on pavement, i was able to push it up a hill with one hand while making a phone call.

the sunshades are the best i have ever seen on a stroller & have saved us a # of times this summer during outings where i was too sweaty to continue to wear dd2.

the "wall" between both sides of the stroller looks to me like it will keep them from kicking/arguing or anything that folks worry about with a side by side.

i can't get over how light it is (for a double) & how easily it folds. it fits in the back of our prius nicely with room to pile on top of it & along the sides.

it has fit through every standard door we have tried so far.

my only negative is that it doesn't come with anything-all the accessories have to be added on. but since i mostly babywear, & use this for exercising & outdoor activities, not shopping etc., i don't really need the add ons.

i bought it on diapers.com thru bing so i got cash back. i think the bing cash back program ends this month though.

i like my phil and teds for any kind of terrain. it would work like a breeze on cobblestone and you can steer it through doors one handed. it really turns on a dime. i take it to dog parks and even go off-roading up and down inclines with it.

i would look into the city mini, though. i had heard it was great and liked the idea of it but i didn't give it much of a look because i wanted the bigger wheels of the jogger. but it is light and easy and if the wheels work well enough then it might do the trick.

The Combi is probably not the best choice for a lot of uneven terrain. I do push my single combi on grass quite frequently, but it's certainly not as easy as my jogging stroller.

I have both the BOB revolution single and the phil and teds dash with the double seat. My kids are 3 and 22 mths.

As much as I love the BOB, the phil and teds is pretty good too. You do have to hunch over a bit to push it with the second seat on, but no biggie. DH who is 6'2 has no probs either. The basket is about the same as the bob. It works really well on uneven terrain/sidewalks etc.

It also fits in our small trunk (mazda 3 sedan) better than the bob. When you have the 2nd seat in the rear you have to take it off before folding.

We got a Bob double stroller and it is great! Even though it is side by side , it fits in my trunk (Hyundai).
You already know how great the single is, lol, but I love the double too!

We have a Joovy Sit N Stand, which I love, but it would not work well on cobblestone. A friend of mine had the Phil and Ted double and hate it so much she sold it on craigslist not long after she bought it. Before she did that, we went for a walk with it and I put my kids in it (they would have been 3 and almost 1, I think?) and it sucked! My almost 1-year-old kept messing with the tires and, even though I'm short (5'3") I kept banging my leg on the bottom seat (my friend had the same problem, she's 5'8")

I found a Phil and Ted's on CraigsList. I think it was $250. It is great. It fits through doors and takes grass, slush, snow, and mud like a champ. It turns easily (which the Graco-type don't). I probably wouldn't have sprung for it, but my grandparents got it for me as a baby gift. I have been so grateful for it; it's awesome.
