~*~Day 3 ~*~

Day 3

Welcome to day 3 campers! This morning let's start with some inspirational quotes:

Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone. ~ G.B. Stern

Gratitude is the memory of the heart. ~ Jean Baptiste Massieu

Ponder these quotes for a moment, how do they speak to you, do they inspire, pull on heart strings, trigger a memory... roll these around in your mind and see what you discover!

Project for today: Letter writing (not home! :P)

Craft a letter (it could be long or short) to someone special in your life. You can select special paper, bless it, or use a special pen you love. Or it can just be a note infused with your love, thanks and joy.

The letter could be to a partner, spouse, lover, dear family member, mother, auntie, child, or anyone you deem special to you.

Let them know how special they are to you, thankful they are in your life, the joy they bring to you, and how much you appreciate what they do, give or are everyday. Make sure you give it to them, or slip it into a place they will find it easily.

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder

the MEM!

Those are great quotes. I def try to voice my gratitudes, to try to influence my girls toward the same. It makes me really happy when I hear one of them say thay are thankful for something. Kind of a "glass half full" mentality.

Cuz I'm late for day 2:

1) dh- who is always there for me, ups and downs
2) my girls, who I try to learn from as well as teach
3) Mini cupcakes with sprinkles
4) Sookie Stackhouse books ( still kinda obsessed with)
5) my exercise finally starting to pay off! I have muscles where flab used to be!!

Thanks for camp ktg!
I'm doing all three days right now

#1 When I read day 1, I picked up my coffee and computer and went out to the garden. I'm here now
Giving thanks for 3 Earth things:
1-The early morning light well not that early-8:45. It's a beautiful shadowy/bright contrast making all the plants in my garden look vibrant.
2-Bird calls. I'm enjoying a symphony of sounds.
3-Green-I love living in such a green literally place.

Day 2
5 things that bring me joy.

1. DP- I can be my complete self around him. He "sees" me and accepts me as I am even when I don't.
2. My children-
3. Loud music that makes me dance, shake and sing
4. My children dancing, shaking and singing with loud music too "Turn it louder Mama"
5. My favorite beach/ocean/foresty bluff place.

Inspired my camp, I'm going to start gratitude journaling again. 5 things a day.

I am going to think about my letter a bit...

I am grateful for this circle

Done, and done. I printed one in Word for my son, and sent M an email. I ought to do one to my mom, too. I think I will. Tomorrow, cause I'm going to bed right now :yawning

Good idea!!

This is one of my favourite things to do.. I write dh little notes often when I'm feeling particularly grateful for his presence in my life. I think I'll write notes to lucas & connor this time, and slip them in their first schoolwork in the morning They'll love that.

I missed yesterday, I'm dying from a UTI so i'm not the most attentive this week, sorry!

1. My dh... can't imagine life without him!
2. my boys laughing and jumping around playing in the bubble machine outside
3. coffee...
4. Derrick will be here in 3 weeks or so!!!!!!!!!!!
5. my new lappytop

~><~ Day 4 ~><~

Love of self

Today's topic will or may be a set outside of your comfort level, so I encourage everyone to start small with babysteps.

Love of self: what does that mean, how does that fit into gratitude or giving thanks?

Simple answer - all love springs or comes from love.

With this week - we've looked at recognizing joy, giving thanks and communicating our appreciation to the outside. Today we're going to take a moment to tell ourselves the same things.

In our lives women focus on the things we need to change - losing weight, nitpicking on the odd or uniqueness of our bodies (crooked nose, funny hair, saggy boobs, big feet etc, etc, etc.) Today I'm asking for you to stand back and love every bit of your physical self and recognize all that is of you as a person and to love it, every bit of it, every scar, stretch mark, bags under the eye bit.
The goal is to turn off the negative record and love ourselves for who we are in this moment in time.

For example - starting from the bottom with toes:
I love the way my toes wiggle and support me in yoga. I love the strength of my feet to ground me into the earth, and the feel of the mud under them. My ankles are getting stronger as I walk barefoot and perfect to me. My legs are long, hairy and make me feel powerful when I can do kicks, balances and stretches. My legs amaze me.

This will not be easy and so start small or if you feel up to it - go full monty and stand in front of mirror and admire you in your glory and give yourself lots of love for each of us are goddesses in our own rights.

I'll go first
I love my feet for training and running the marathon. Even through all the pounding of the road, and the bruising on the bottom of my feet, my feet kept me grounded and propelled me along to finish my goal. And I love my arms, for carrying my littlest one, and hugging family and friends.

Alrighty.

I give gratitude for my saggy boobs, because they nursed and gave nourishment to my son for 9 years (YES, I know he was on the high end of the curve, but it's perfectly within the realm of anthropological normal) and they have done their job, admirably.

I give love to my round, womanly, Willendorf shape. Though I don't always feel like this, today I give gratitude for it because my sweetheart loves it. I finally have a man who loves voluptuous women, and through him I am learning to love my body exactly as it is.

I give thanks for my sore muscles today. I worked out yesterday for the first time in a long time, and my muscles are letting me know they are still there

So far, so good

you cant ask a libra for self-love camp on a libra new moon cycle and not expect something, so... for you, maia, and everyone else who needs a little self love.....

ittle-bitty-mini-self-love-camp:
~make a little place to focus on loving you. things to include: pics of arty nudes (ala the links before, and maybe some of these), sexy pics of full-blooming roses (here), maybe some yoni art (google that yerself, lol), salt clay or wax goddess figure (ala altar camp!), rose scented candles or rose incense, does your deck have a goddess figure you love? pull any of those cards and include them in your special space. maybe use a pink cloth or ribbon, too. print out some affirmations about you being wonderful and in love with yourself! use a sexy font.
~rose quartz is wonderful for self-love, ime. string some on a long thread and hang it inside your shirt at your solar plexus
~fresh flowers: splurge on a potted mini-rose or orchid, or get a single rose from the grocery store bucket (tip: cut the stem short and put it in a special jar... a single rose on a short stem looks much more luxe than a lone long stemmed rose)
~spa night: candles, sugar or salt scrub, rose oil, music...
~music! what makes you feel sexy? or, do you have a song that was "your song" back then?? might be fun.... maybe do some belly dancing to your sexy music... make a playlist for your visit!
~movies... calendar girls, bread and tulips, chocolat, my big fat greek wedding....
~food: get a bar of GOOD dark dark dark chocolate (like the yoda chocolate we used to always joke about)... cut it into small bits and keep it in a jar in the fridge. when you're feeling un-sexy, grab a piece and let it melt in your mouth. make a special drink potion with hibiscus leaves. eat lots of spicy food.... boosts endorphins!

ok, so some of those links dont work in c&p, but.... i remember that list being inspired (how could it not with the moon in libra!), so i wanted to post it. (eta: maia, i just remembered why i posted that "to" you, do you remember?!xoxox)

now, my love:
my feet are size 11, wide, and really solid. but barefoot in the garden, wet from watering... they are as fairy like as can be!
my mid section is thick and solid and straight up and down... but when i wear empire waist dresses, i feel awesome and goddessey.
my shoulders are wide and large-boned, thick... but in my strappey or strapless sundresses, i feel powerful and earthy.

hello me - why I think I am in love:

toes tap, feet dance to my favorite song
Legs are strong for kicks and balance and as you carry me along
hips sway, bounce and jiggle
it makes me giggle
sliver lines of stretch marks from days of past
remind me of struggle, fights and one huge belly cast
arms open wide, available for a hug
or to sword fight, toss a ball, or tug
face shining, mouth smiling
eyes bright, wrinkles crinkling
put it all together and what do you get

!!!Day 5!!! Last Day!

Rise & Shine Campers - today is our last day of camp for this week.

We have been focusing on gratitude, thanks and a little self love too and here are some more quotes I believe capture our experience this week.

To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter;
to be thrilled by the stars at night:
to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring ...
these are some of the rewards of the simple life.
~ John Burroughs, Naturalist (1837-1921) ~

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melodie Beattie

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. ~Denis Waitley

Today we end our camp experience with a final simple exercise:
acceptance of gratitude, appreciation or thanks from others

As you go through your day today, accept each and every thank you you receive. All compliments paid to you and gratitude offered.

This might be a difficult task as we often deflect compliments oh but you'd look even better in this <shirt/skirt/color/haircut> or minimize the appreciation you're welcome, but it was nothing, no big deal etc.. Work on accepting each thank you (even for holding a door for a busy mom!) simply with a smile and grace.

Do you feel differently after? Did the person giving the thanks respond differently? Notice the slight changes and carry that forward into the rest of your day, weekend and life.
