The NutriBiotic brand is labeled as a "crystalline powder." You don't want capsules, because you want to be able to mix it in food or drink for children. If you mix it in water, it gives the water a slightly salty taste, depending on how much you use.

Please remain on-topic for the Vax forum. If you wish to continue discussing home care options for infection, please start a new thread in H&H. Thanks!

Didn't we have a thread around here with a poll asking those who were unvaxed if they had ever gotten a VPD?

I don't think you need to be afraid.

Thanks so much!!!!!

I didn't know about SA. I'm glad to have that others have had it and its been ok. I guess its kinda a sure thing he will eventually get WC. I think if there was an option of just a pertussis vax I'd be more likely to think about it longer. Dh had a bad reaction as an adult to Tentus Vax (flu like symptoms two days.)Plus the concern of misdiagnosis if DS gets it after the new brother or sister arrives. And if the cut off worry age is 6 months not 1 year then I think we'll be ok.

Thanks so so much. this is the one vax my homeopathic family doc wanted us to get, so I'm sure I may have caved if it wasn't for you guys. (not that he's pushing but we do trust him a lot)

All seven of us got pertussis almost 2 years ago. I got it first (I was vaxed as a kid, but not as an adult) and then it went down the line, including dh (vaxed) and all five kids (unvaxed). It was hardest on my almost one year old, because he didn't know how to cough effectively. He was also misdiagnosed until I figured it out. If we had known to treat every cold with SA it probably would have been easier on everyone. We started it late and it still helped somewhat. That said, I would much rather deal with pertussis than the vaccine. My niece had a terrible reaction from a bad batch. Being pregnant again, I am concerned for the newborn, but will focus on healthy diet, breastfeeding and extremely low sugar intake. I caught pertussis on an extremely stressful vacation (5 kids on a plane!) with a lot of poor eating and loss of sleep.

We just went through it here in March. My vaxed and boostered DH brought it home and my DS (23 months) caught it from him. It wasn't pleasant, but manageable, once we got enough SA into him. My DH coughed for double the amount of time my DS did.
