We've been co-sleeping with our toddler since birth, which has mostly worked out well. I do remember being a little uncomfortable and having a challenging time falling asleep the first few months, though, because he was so small..
I'm expecting our second baby in January and I'd like to find a more comfortable arrangement for us this time, especially considering it's likely our toddler will still be co-sleeping some of the time. Our king mattress is on the floor, so a co-sleeper like the Arm's Reach wouldn't work for us.
What are some good solutions for next-to-the-bed sleepers that will work with a mattress on the floor? I like the idea of the Tres Tria, but I think I'd be more comfortable if the new baby had his/her own nook beside the bed (at bed level, so I can reach over when I need to nurse).
"The First Years Close and Secure Sleeper" seems like it would be a perfect little bedside pad thingy for the baby to sleep on, but I took a whiff of one in the store and... uh, I don't know how other parents don't smell the chemicals on these things. I could air the foam mattress out in the sun for a few days and that'd probably help, but I dunno. I'd rather go with a more natural solution. Maybe a Moses basket with a cotton pad? Or would that be awkward to lift the baby from at night?
Thanks for any ideas, I really want to figure this out this time!
