red wine stain

My dh just spilled some red wine on the cotton/canvas type material of the easy chair. What is the best way of removing it?

Generous amounts of club soda and then blotting with an absorbent cloth has always worked well for me. (DH used to spill red wine a lot)

the club soda worked perfectly! no stain at all!

I mixed Dawn dishsoap, hydrogen peroxide, and water in a spray bottle, shook it up and sprayed it on. It got a huge red wine stain out of my rented apartment's cream carpet.
