Vivi has been sitting alone since 5 months, and mobile since then, too- army/inchworm crawling. She started cross-crawling ("proper" crawling) at about 6.25 months. Literally the day she started that, she also figured out how to pull herself up to stand, and climbed out of her cosleeper onto the bed (the mattress is now at play-pen level!)
She could hold her head up at birth, was rolling over early, etc. She finger-feeds, drinks from a sippy, transfers objects from hand-to-hand, all pretty "advanced" gross and fine motor.
But she's not babbling. She's very talkative, but it's 90% vowel-based. She does say "me-me-me-me," "nee-nee-nee," and "momomomomom" when she's extra fussy or crying, but otherwise, nada.
My husband and I were both early movers and talkers (both walking at 9 months, talking in 2 word sentences at a year) and we're not worried, per se. We figure all of her energy is going to her motor development?
She suffers terribly from First Born Girl Child syndrome, so her exposure to language isn't a concern.
Do you think we're right, that her brain is at capacity right now? Any experiences?
Thank you!!!
