I'm worried..is this normal behavior?

My 14 mo DD will stand with her back against a wall and bang her head against it. She doesn't do it super hard and she doesn't cry or anything. She'll usually do it until I grab and pull her away or distract her with something. I know that kids will sometimes do things like this during a tantrum, but she's not upset when she does it. Is this just another strange quirk kids do or should I be worried??

I've read that this is something more than 20% of toddlers do. It can be for any number of reasons, frustration, teething pain, perhaps they even think it's funny/silly. My DD does this occasionally too, and it is not associated with a tantrum or being upset. It seems like she does it when she's bored, and is just sort of exploring her surroundings. All the literature I've read suggests it's pretty normal and not something to be concerned about, though I do redirect her when she does it.

Yeah, I've read that it can be due to a number of things- teething, boredom, ear infections/loss of equilibrium, etc. It is still unsettling to watch, but it's reassuring that it's considered normal.

My kids slammed their heads into the floor. I've always heard it's normal.
