Round ligament pain like period cramps?

Can someone calm a new pregnant mama down? I've been having pain/cramping for a few hours now and it really feels like period cramps. Is that what round ligament pain feels like?

maybe but if it feels something like your period is about to come... its more likely the normal early pregnancy cramping you get from your uterus growing!

I hope it's a normal pain! If I wasn't pregnant, I would have taken some ibuprofen by now. I'm going to try to get some more water in me and then lay down for a bit to see if it goes away.

lol it probably wont but trust me its normal.

I felt like AF was going to come any moment from the day after AF was due up through about 10 weeks along. And I'm not the only one... tons of mamas get it. As long as you are not bleeding, there's nothing to worry about.

Thanks Mae...intellectually I know all this stuff but now that it's *my* baby, I'm freaking out all the time!

For me, round pain is sharp, almost like a Charlie Horse, but once it's done, it's done and doesn't usually reoccur until the next time I move the wrong way. It's also specific to one side or the other for me and near my groin. It often happens after long periods of rest, like when I'm in bed.

Thats pretty much how I explained mine to DH last night (after freaking him out from screaming out in pain)

however, some ladies do get a dull ache RLP... but the OP really just sounds like shes getting normal early pregnancy cramping.

That is an excellent way of describing it.

This is # 4 for the OP, right? I have a friend who (happened to be on #5 at the time) told me that the more kids she had, the more cramping she got throughout the pregnancy. She has totally normal pregnancies. She was big on increasing calcium, said it helped.

Thanks Mae! I was napping...cramping is better when I lay down. Probably just growing pains. If RLP feels like a charlie horse I DO NOT want to feel that! Yikes!

FWIW I do not remember ever feeling it with my #1... only towards the end with #2 and have been since before my bfp with #3!

This is my 5th pregnancy and it's the first time I had cramping. It lasted a total of 2-3 days and I haven't had any since. It rocked my world though, as I just had a 9 week m/c 8 weeks ago, so it was pretty fresh.

And ITA on the charlie horse description of RLP, yikes! At least they only last a minute and don't get worse unless you move. Just. Don't. Move.
