Does your partner know how to meal plan? How do you help them learn? - Page 2

He buys food, I buy ingredients. Then he complains there's nothing to eat. But while he says he's not picky, he doesn't eat a lot of stuff that I like. And to be fair, I don't like spicy that he does. Add in picky kids with allergies, and I really REALLY hate meal planning.

I don't do much organized planning although I SHOULD do more. It definitely helps with the budget and with my own stress level if I know in advance what I'm making for dinner. I think I have given up on dh doing any of the planning. He can cook but won't unless I specifically request it by name and make sure all the ingredients are at hand. I would like him to cook on the nights that he's been home all day and I've been at work. But I'd get home, and nothing would be thawed or planned. He'd say "what do you want? what should I make?" For me, that is the worst. Now, I make sure to have something on hand, like frozen pizza or leftovers that I can just heat up when I get home. I tend to plan by the week, based on what's fresh, on sale etc. I am really picky on ingredients and brands, so I have to do the shopping myself. I take dh every so often but we have very different shopping styles and tend to annoy each other I feel like it is less stressful if I just do the planning, shopping and cooking myself.
