Alternative treatments for asthma/allergy

My oldest son was officially diagnosed with asthma. Throughout his life he has had several boughts with pnemonia, ear infections, etc. He has used singulair, zytrect, etc for allergies in the past. I noticed a severe mood change when he takes these.

Does anyone have any alternative treatments that work for allergy/asthma issues?

Has anyone used the Buteyko Method with success?

I have started to give him local honey and omega 3's each day. I honestly can't tell if it is working or not since it has only been a couple of days.

I do carry an inhaler with me in case of an emergency.

Have you tried the Himalayan Salt Inhaler, or some device like it? It's based on the historical fact that salt miners got little to no respiratory ailments. The salt inhaler allows you to breathe salt-laden air -- I think they suggest doing it for two ten-minute periods daily. Lots of folks, anecdotally, have gotten great relief for their asthma that way; it apparently works preventatively.
