Rock, meet hard place

Well, I am back to my rock-and-a-hard-place issue. My insurance is thru the hospital I work for. The insurance only allows us to see providers employed by the hospital. The employeed OB/ Gyn's only deliver at the hospital I work for. And the hospital expressly bans VBAC's. I had to fight for 4 months to get a HB midwife approved last time. Then the long labor followed by a transfer had to be retroactivly approved and there was so much BS involved in that as well. (D's birth story for the interested http://www.mothering.com/discussions...ht=birth+sorin )

It sucks and I am already frustrated. DH was traumatized by the whole HB experience last time. I have agreed to go to a hospital with an OB IF I can get an outside OB approved thru my insurance that practices at a hospital that does VBACs and IF I get to have a doula there with me.

Basically, I have no idea where I will be birthing this time.

Oh no! However, it's so early on, so you still have a lot of time to figure it all out. Can you do private pay for a mw? The local mws here do private pay (you pay it out over several months) for women whose insurance won't cover HBs. BTW, one of my friends whose insurance wouldn't pay for a HB relented and covered the charges after she spent 10 months challenging them.

I do hope you can find a good solution.

Would the hospital still consider you VBAC even though your most recent one was vaginal (I'm assuming) and you've done VBAC before?
