Wow--Mel's mix would be very expensive very fast. I know I need more than one 4x4 garden.

We're thinking about doing a SFG. I was thinking about doing Mel's Mix, but we're only thinking about one small bed right now so it wouldn't be a huge amount. I do not have a green thumb and we're in a weird climate, so I'm thinking I'll need all the help I can get from good soil!

I am planning on doing sfg next spring. I won't do Mel's mix either. For sure not peat. It is quite endangered. I did find an alternative for peat though. It is called coco coir. From what I've read it is much more sustainable and is a byproduct of coconut farming. We use it as bedding for our worm compost and have been pleased with it so far.
