8 month old - circ question .... help please!!

Help please!!!!!

My 8 month old boy discovered his genitals this week. (Which, doesn't concern me at all) The problem is, he actually scratched himself in the process. I can tell he is REALLY uncomfortable. The scratch is right on the tip. It looks a little aggravated .... probably from being trapped in a diaper. I'm not sure what to do to help it heal. Nor, do I know what to do to help him feel more comfortable in the meantime.

dab a bit of neosporin ointment on it. (the ointment will keep the urine from aggravating it as it heals.

I am confused...why is this a circ. question?

I have moved this to Life with a babe.

wow, my 10mo hasn't found his boy parts yet. Not even close.

Is your concern because he IS circ'ed?

So is the question he is circ'd so his glans are exposed and he scratched it?

I would just put a little neosporin on it or even some diaper rash cream

You might want to run it by a pharmacist. I don't think you are supposed to put Neosporine on genitals.

I agree.

I wouldn't use a petroleum based product, but an herbal salve made from beeswax and olive oil, or something edible like that would work. Vitamin E oil also makes a great barrier.

If your DS is circ'd, then put whatever the doc told you to put on it while healing.

When my DS looks like he's getting a rash or something, I put him in a prefold with no cover to let him air out. That might help the scratch heal too - just change him as soon as he gets wet and keep him like that as long as you can. Naked time would also probably be good.
