i'm asking because DD did a flying head dive into my nostrils and face from the side. it rattled my head pretty bad and i had the same taste in my mouth that happened when i broke my pinky toe really bad. i could hardly eat later that day because my two front teeth hurt so bad. it's been over 48 hours and i tried blowing my nose in the shower and got the most awful pain in my nose and upper teeth again. i just so happened to have an appointment with an ENT on Thursday for another issue and i was going to have him check. i'm just curious if anyone has had something like this happen?

I can't speak from experience or any real knowledge base, but I think it is entirely possible that you broke something.

A colleague's daughter broke her nose by jumping up and hitting her mother in the nose. She had to have surgery to fix it. The benefit was that they removed a huge colony of aspergillus from her sinuses while they were fixing her nose.

I think it is possible. Maybe though, you just rattled the nerves in your top teeth? IDK.

I have a question though. You got a taste in your mouth when you broke your pinky toe? I have only broken my pinky toe, no other bones, but I don't remember getting a taste in my mouth. Like what did it taste like. I don't know why I am interested, lol

Tilia, it's like the weird watery taste when you're about to throw up.

i just wiggled my cartilage a little and got awful pains in my teeth and roof of my mouth. it's probably just really bruised. i'd expect more swelling if it was broken. i'll update after my appointment on Thursday.

what does it taste like?

Theoretically, I don't think you can break the "lower" part of your nose as it is made up of cartilage. However, you can break the bridge of your nose, maxillary bones or an area known as the cribriform plate. Can you be more specific as to what kind of taste you have? Is it sweet, etc?

That being said, I'd trust your gut instinct and if you think you broke something, then see an ENT asap.

Hope everything works out!

the taste only happened immediately after impact and it was a watery salt taste. i get it when i'm about to puke sometimes.

the ENT was a waste on my time. he could barely answer my questions and didn't seem concerned. he just said the cartilage was meant to give when hit. i still have swelling in my lip and nostrils and my teeth still hurts if i move my nose to much. i really hope this doesn't cause issues down the road.

If teeth are involved, I'd start with a dentist or oral surgeon.
