At first I thought it was uncomfortable, but then my vagina seemed to suck it further back in, and then it was fine. I guess it's like a tampon in that respect; it has to be far in. Then came the problem. Unlike a tampon, there was no string. I almost panicked and had visions of an embarrassing gyno visit, but I was finally able to get it. I'm not using it again until I get some string for it.

I never thought of tying string to it! After using it a while you will probably find that it's easier to get out because you'll just be more relaxed. I've found that if you bear down, like you are trying to urinate and defecate at the same time, it will start to come out a bit and you can grab it more easily. But you have to be willing to reach up in there with at least two fingers. It definitely took a few months to get used to it. Good luck!

Mine was uncomfortable the first time too, pinched me each time I sat down. It shouldn't be quite as far as a tampon, but far enough that you can't feel it.
Instead of a string, try sitting on the toilet and bearing down a bit, that usually gets it down a bit so I can grasp the bottom of the cup with my fingers. Or I've also pulled on the stem to lower it, but it can be slippery so that doesn't always work that well.

Did you trim the end? Trimming it will keep it from "pinching" you or poke you if that is the uncomfortable part. Some people say its more comfortable inside out when kept low. Sometimes when you have it "high" you will have leaking(more with heavier days) so be careful with that.
If its just the feeling that it is there, your muscles will get used to it in a few cycles.
I've had mine for 6 years and love it. I had the Keeper before this and like it too. But I had to get an "after birth" size and a friend of a friend sold the diva cups so I switched because I didn't want to wait for shipping.

It took me about three months to really get the hang of wearing it, and there were leaks and accidents in that time. I think the first month was full of leaks, the second was awesome and I had no issues, and the third I had problems again, but by the end, it was like, "OH! THAT'S how you do it!" I haven't looked back since. It's a learning curve, I think.
I was surprised, though, at how very comfortable you have to be with your body to properly use it. There have been days when I feel like I'm about elbow deep, or spending what feels like hours trying to get it proplerly positioned.
It's worth it, though, I HATED pads and could never use tampons. Keep at it and you'll get it.
