Laptop bag recommendation

Thread Starter
I lost my original post requesting recommendations on whether to go with a 13' or 17' laptop.

But it was too long to type again and I realize I'm leaning towards the 17" with the taller screen. So now I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations on a laptop bag that might disperse the 6.6 pounds and reduce the "perceived weight".

Thanks,
~Cath

Honestly, the thing that works best for me is a laptop backpack. It's not the most stylish option but one-shoulder bags kill my back. Plus in a backpack I can carry my lunch, a sweater for the air-conditioning, etc.

I too would recommend a laptop backpack. But either way, just take you laptop with you to Staples or whatever office supply store you have and try them on with the laptop and whatever you would normally carry in addition inside the bag. That's the only way to really test if the bag will work for you. But backpacks are way better at weight distribution and comfort than any shoulder bag. I have one similar to this that I love and I travel often for work on planes, then rental cars to the site, etc. if that helps:

And I use to have a less bulky bag with less storage space and I liked that too, but wanted a slightly bigger bag for traveling so I could fit a few more things in there.

I absolutely love my bag from sfbags.com (Waterfield designs) . awesome construction quality and comfort, made in the US.

I love my swiss army laptop, backpack. Here's a link to a site with the backpack I have http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1...SYNERGYP?mv=rr. I'm not sure if they make mine in a 17" model, but here's a link to a swiss gear backpack that holds a 17" laptop http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1...PEGASUSP?mv=rr. I really like mine because it has a lot of different storage pockets, and it helps me stay organized. I also like that it has an extra pouch in the laptop pocket that can hold my magic mouse, and there's a pocket within the laptop pocket that you slide your laptop into to keep it secure, and it's nicely padded, and it holds it in place with a wide Velcro band. There is extra room in that pocket then for my power cord. The straps on the backpack are nicely padded, and have elastic on the top to act as a shock absorber. I hope this helps.

I would suggest the smaller laptop (this coming from someone that carries around a laptop like its a cell phone). anyway, i just use a soft neoprene cover, then i can stick it in what ever backback i want!
