Babywearing at home, 1 year and up?

I haven't been wearing my DD nearly as much as I used to, and I've been feeling very strange about it. Like I should be wearing her, but since she walks now, I let her do her thing. But when she gets upset very easily sometimes, I feel some guilt, like it's because I am not wearing her enough. Except she is getting HEAVY and I have a fairly bad back.

So, just wondering how your babywearing life changed after the one year mark? (DD is 13 months)

I almost never wear DD (15 months) at home anymore. I used to wear her in the house a lot...I'd put her on my back every morning to make breakfast, every night to make dinner, and just whenever we felt like it in between. Now I only wear her when we're out, and even that is decreasing as she wants to walk more.

DH and I started putting her to sleep a few nights ago by wrapping her and then going for a walk. Then after she's asleep, we sit outside and just enjoy the summer evenings. It's been so nice, and I love all the wrapping snuggles! I miss how much I got to wear her when she was itsy bitsy.

I think wearing at home is cyclical. I've found myself needing the ergo in order to prep dinner after not using it at all for some time. My youngest are 3 (twins) but there are times when someone is just having a tough day and will ask for the ergo. You'll know when your kiddo needs to hang out on your body. Meanwhile, enjoy her newly discovered independence 'cause I bet she'll be back off and on again!

I hardly ever wear dd at home because it's a PITA to wear the mei tai when she's not in it, and a PITA to put it on to put her in it. It's faster and easier to just hoist her on a hip and do without that arm. I pretty much only bother wearing her if I *have* to do a lot with both hands, e.g. when we were moving to this place.

DD is 20 months and I still wear here when I make lunch and dinner. She takes naps it her wrap often to.
I wear her less out now then I used to and less at home but about half of what i used to at home and 1/3 when we are out.
