insomniacs unite!

I'm starting to lose my mind. I wake up between 2-4am and can't get back to sleep. It happens about 3-4 times a week. I researched online and they said that 50% of the population has a sleep disorder of some kind. That can't be true. Certainly half of the population aren't living on four hours of sleep. But that's beside the point.

I think it started from night nursing for two years. Although I never had a problem going back to sleep then. I can't imagine what's troubling me so. I just sit there, awake...thinking ...thinking...sometimes about important stuff, sometimes about minor details of the day before, or the day coming...

Not sure why I'm posting this...except maybe to see if I'm not so alone in this.

The same thing happens to me! I assumed it would get better once the LO nightweaned, but no such luck!

I think there are likely various causes BUT for me my years of off/on insomnia was linked to vitD deficiency. When I started taking extra D3 it finally stopped. It still happens occasionally if I am stressed or worried about something but it is usually fairly rare. I sleep much better now as well. I think partly it is going gluten and grain free but I think the biggest affect on my sleeping was the D3- a large part of the population is also D3 deficient- coincidence or not- it helped me.

I'm glad you posted. Those are the hours I'm up too.

My insomnia started with having a non-sleeper child and being up at all hours. After 5 years, he's finally sleeping, but I'm not. I feel like I've tried every remedy known to man... but the vitamin D thing is new to me. Will give it a try.

Honestly, I think it's unconscious stress in my case. If I sleep in someone else's house? I sleep through the night. It's only at home with my children that's a problem. But ya know... they ain't goin' anywhere. So I'd like to come up with a solution.
