I used these tutorials:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=178322.0

And made a toddler dress, pants, and head scarf for DD.

Now I am in search of some really cool and funky fabrics to make my next set of dresses, somewhere in the lines of Alexander henry fabrics. Anyone know some cool fabric sites?

Cute outfit! I've had that Craftster tute on making dresses from men's shirts saved for a while. I need to get to that.

I haven't found any fabric places I love online. For clothes for DD I like to check out the quilting fabrics at Joann. They're cheap and usually %100 cotton. If you have a quilt shop in your area they are more likely to have designer fabric. I never get my fabric there because it's more $$ than I want to spend.

Also check out your local thrift store with an eye to cool fabrics. You can find old sheets, curtains and adult clothes you can cut down for kid's clothes.

I'm jealous.

I have a whole pile of men's dress shirts sitting here for exactly this reason. I kept the ones with really nice fabric, or funky patterns. And then I went and had a boy.

I saw a really cute thing for boys making rompers out of men's t-shirts and dress shirts. It was in my sewing class, a girl had this book on re-using clothes for kids. I don't have a link, but maybe do a google search. She had boys, so she was going to make some rompers with snaps at the crotch out of dress shirts.

I saw this:

I can't find a tutorial on the dress shirt to romper idea, though.

Love this! Thanks for sharing. I know what I'll be looking for at the Goodwill next time.
