I wanted to introduce myself. I just joined the forum yesterday. I'm located in the Detroit area. I'm married to a Pakistani, and I converted to Islam in 2003. My husband and I lost our first child in June of 2009 due to miscarriage, but we are trying again (wish us luck!). We were both excited about our first baby and were planning a homebirth--my husband was born at home, and I've wanted to do a homebirth since I was 17. I'd just read one of Sheila Kitzinger's books, and I'd decided--even at that young age--that when I had children, they would be born at home.
I'm very interested in attachment parenting and am planning to do a lot of AP things--homebirthing, babywearing, nursing, cloth diapers. I'm also trying to find other Muslims who are also interested in (or are doing) AP. One of my friends, who is also an American convert to Islam, is doing AP with her daughter. Of course, I'd like to talk to anyone who is an attachment parent, but I guess that I'd also like to hear from others who are doing AP from an Islamic viewpoint. I try very hard to respect all religions and cultures and to be open-minded. I really like what I've seen on the forum so far, and I look forward to meeting new people and learning a lot.
