When and how do you get your school supply list? - Page 2

Dd's going back to her old school for 2nd grade, its a small charter school and there is only one 2nd grade class/teacher(amazingly they still have small class sizes). She had not turned in her supply list yet when we got her re-enrolled back into that school(left because we moved out of state) so we have to wait for open house next week when all teachers are due to have supply lists in. The last year she attended this school(for first half of K) a new management company had taken it over and was supplying all supplies so that was nice all I had to get was uniforms, lunchbox(if needed) and backpack turned out K teacher didn't have room to store them in class though so she asked they not be sent. Too bad dd had already tore the tags off and I wrote her name on it with a sharpie.

I don't see anything on their website, so I guess I'll wait until the office opens and give them a call.

I just wanted to thank everyone for this thread. It motivated me to go to Target and get everything we needed. I'm glad to have that out of the way!

I'd give them a call.

Our school gives out a list on the last day of school for the folllowing year, by each teacher.

In high school, we wait until the first couple of days and then the teachers give out a syllabus with the supplies needed.

DD is entering public school (first grade) for the first time and until I saw this thread, it never occurred to me that there woul dbe a supply list (we never had one when I was growing up in Los Angeles). So I went to the school website and, lo and behold, there was a list (with a note that the individual teacher may issue an additional list when school starts). I had to go to no less than 5 stores to get all the stuff . The list was relatively short, but very specific about package sizes, though not really the brands (except a few "preferences" listed for scissors and another item).

I'd just call. Probably the best way to get a sure answer.

DS's private school just has us pay a books and supply fee then they take care of everything. Fine by me! Every big box store around here (Walmart, Target, and such) has lists at the front of the store for the public schools.

We got a list on the last day of school in June. Also, the list is posted on the school website. A few local stores have the lists on hand too.

My kids elementary school has an option to purchase the supplies online through the PTA for the next school year. Really nice as it is only like $30 or $35 depending on grade and they will have the supplies delivered to the classroom for you, so you don't have to shop around or haul all that stuff for possibly multiple kids as well as little siblings on the first day.

We just got the list online over the weekend. DS is going into K and its not much, the teacher specified that all supplies like pencils, crayons, glue, etc., would be supplied by the school. This is what is on our list;

folder with pockets
box of extra large/jumbo size storage bags (snap or zip)
container of baby wipes
box of tissues
roll of paper towels
box of small plastic storage bags (snap or zip)

I didn't know anyone uses those school supply lists that the stores provide! They've always list way more than my kids ever need, more like stuff the stores would like you to spend money on.
the school supply lists in stores here are the same ones that the school gives out. The stores don't make the lists.
