LOUD placenta wind noise on doppler = anterior placenta?

Hi mamas,

I found my dd's HB on doppler at 8w. I remember hearing the placenta, but it wasn't loud, just off in the distance. Her placenta was posterior.

When I listen with this one, I hear a lot of loud placenta wind noise up high and it covers a large area. It's really obvious. It's so loud in fact that it's louder than everything else, except my HB. Does this mean I have an anterior placenta this go around?

possibly. its what it meant for me, at least.

Thanks! When were you able to hear the HB?

not until about 11-12 weeks. I felt kicks 9 weeks so it was weird to feel kicks before I could hear the heartbeat!

That is weird!

Did you have to veer off to the side to hear or just the typical way on top?

when i finally started hearing it it was to the right about an inch, just above my pubic bone.

I didn't have doppler with DS1, so I can't compare. But, with this one, I have anterior placenta and definitely heard loud placenta noises. I was able to find heartbeat (I would search every night for about 20 mins) at around 9 weeks.

8 weeks is still rather early to determine placental placement.. at least in all the reading I've done. For a bit I thought I had an anterior placenta this time as well. I can hear some placenta wind noises in the front but when I place the doppler at the very top of my uterus, it's a lot stronger. There's an artery that is right there (the ischial?? artery, i think??) and makes a similar noise in early pregnancy.

I heard this babe at 9w2d.

I know where my placenta is (because we're watching it during ultrasounds at the doctor's since it was complete and now partial previa) and when I use my home doppler I can hear that wooshy wind noise where it is (down low, right side).
