How Do You Decompress?

After the kids are in bed I've gotten into the bad habit of getting on message boards and blogs to decompress.... for two hours.

Yeeeeaaaaah.

I know why I do it. It's because I need to talk to adults and I don't often get it during the day. It's because I'm too lazy to work through the decluttering I have to do. It's because it's familiar and a habit. It's because I want to laugh with others and my husband's working.

I know if I set up a new routine (can't be too physical as I'm quite tired after carrying around these monkeys all day) I can do it.

What's yours? Inspire me.

Well, my default choice of activity is usually the same as yours! Up later than I should be on the internet...
But, I find that I feel great when I choose to go to bed early (trying for before 10) and get up early (6:30). When I get up I make coffee, read my Bible and stretch, and I feel amazing during the day. I have way more energy to blow with my kids and just generally am happier.
Since I have an introverted personality I find it more fulfilling to get some time with my God and myself in the morning than I do being up late on the cpu

Sometimes the net, which is stupid of me, because I really don't decompress online very well.

Effective ways that I decompress? Reading, soaking in a hot tub (and yes, I know warm is better for my skin, but I love hot), going for a walk (especially effective if it's really windy and rainy) or doing some yoga.

I've been trying to do my Candlelight Yoga video by Sarah Ivanhoe. It helps me stretch out my muscles and relax my body and mind.

And then of course, other nights I get on the forum or do other web surfing :nana

oye vey!!!! that's my best form of decompressing. why is that wrong?!!!!!

I am doing my favourite thing. talking about my dd or about children and offering advice without actually taking care of them.

as i look at the threads here i am filled with love for my dd who i discover more in the threads here when i see how similar or different she is.

i actually decompress while cooking dinner. cooking is my 'couch potato' time. i love how i have to focus and its kinda a meditation to me. mind you though my child is older now.

i dont have a child hanging around me. i am 'doing' something. and i am focused and using all my senses. while listening and talking to the radio.

when my dd was younger i decompressed by watching netflix or being here. i was too tired to read a book. i had to do it. because if i went to bed without taking care of me, over time i would turn into this mean cranky person.

Well, I'm jealous. We live in an apartment. Our bath is uncomfortable. But I think that's awesome for you.

Well... it's addicting, so I stay up too late. It's unproductive. It's a lot of gossip mixed with the genuinely helpful stuff. I need something I can do for 30 minutes, then move past and do my other stuff like decluttering or sleeping.

I'm not saying it's bad for everyone. But it's not so good for me.

I go to bed at the same time as my children, which is a relatively new thing, so I decompress in little bits throughout the day. My way of decompressing is playing music. Usually guitar and singing but often piano or drumming. My husband also decompresses this way. When we *really* need to decompress and the kids are keeping themselves busy, we jam together
