Need discipline advice!

So my son just turned 13 months old and all of a sudden has been hitting NON STOP! I have no idea where it came from... its been about a week and a half we don't believe in that typof parenting so I don't know where he would have learned it. so we have been just telling him no, thats nit nice, showing him gentle touch etc. but he usually just laughs and cried a few times. but its not just th hitting, hes been throwing toys and just rough in general. I know he'e probably just heading into toddlerhood but I feel very unprepared and discourage that we haven't been able to get through to him!

Who is he hitting? You? If he's not getting the redirection you could try removing yourself quickly from his reach. Like a behavioral association thing--say calmly "we don't hit because it hurts" and as you're saying that you place him out of reach of you and back up a bit.
