elementary school backpacks buy cheapie or good one - Page 3

I'm using the same Jansport that I bought 20+ years ago when I was in high school. It's the kind with the leather bottom. Prior to that, I would go through two cheap backpacks a year. The only thing that has worn out on it were the shoulder straps pulling out of the top of the bag. I took it to a shoe repair place and they resewed them for a few bucks.

Another vote for quality! In K and 1st, I bought my ds cheap backpacks that started falling apart literally within a month of purchase. Last year in 2nd, I bought a nicer backpack from Oshkosh (not hugely expensive, but definitely more than what I'd paid before), it lasted the entire year and is still in excellent shape.

for little kids who tote around ;ittle more than a folder and a jacket the cheapy ones are fine. I bought nice ones this year because I easily spent $40 on backpacks for each of my two oldest ones because their cheapy ones broke. but if she is little, won't be carrying much and just wants something fun and different I say get a cheap one. all the early ed moms should get together at the beginning of the school year and have a back pack swap.....

FYI, Staples and Office Max this week have free backpacks- well, buy and then get 100% rebate. We got Ty a nice backpack for $20, and will get a full rebate as well.

Staples has tons of backpacks.... I think I saw Jansport there today...
