Tonight, my baby didn't want to nurse to sleep!

I've a 15mo DD. She's been a nursing lover since day one. Until the last few weeks... we were nursing bedtime, all she wanted night time (bed share), morning, and once or twice in the day.

The last few weeks, she's been way too busy to be bothered with the daytime feeds. She'll ask (by ask, I mean shove her little hand down my shirt ), I'll offer, she'll latch for about 2 seconds and then get distracted and hop off my lap (seriously, it is rather funny- she'll latch, see the cat, scream "kitty!!" and run away). That wasn't bothering me that much, I figured she was just a busy toddler. We still had the majority of the nursing in the nightime, anyway....

Except, tonight, she didn't want to nurse to sleep. In fact, she CRIED when I put her to breast. She sobbed, even. I had to get out of bed and walk her around the room until she was sound asleep. This is the first time in her whole little life she hasn't nursed to sleep and I'm so torn up about it...

We didn't really have a 'plan' for weaning- I guess I was figuring I'd go CLW... is this signs of CLW that I should be respecting or is this a stage?

My DS was done nursing @ 18 mos, but he was sort of always a lazy nurser and we were down to bedtime sessions only then. I LOVE the bedtime session! Wah!

I'm so sorry, what a sad night.

Maybe do a google search of nursing strike and see if you get any information. Jack Newman might have something about it.

awwww DS2 sometimes did this between close to a year and being done--self weaned in the past couple months. He would end up falling asleep with Dad.

One night does *not* mean the end. We had many, many many nights of 'boo' and only a handful not.

Wanted to thank you, mamas, for your kind words.
Turns out my DD was getting sick. She has a sore throat and that likely explained why she wasn't nursing. She's making up for lost time for sure, now
