Doppler at 9 weeks?

I have my first dr appt in a few weeks and I will be 9w5d then. What are the chances that my dr will be able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler? At this point, I don't think I will be having the NT scan at 12 weeks so I'm really hoping to be able to hear this baby's heartbeat soon!

Id say the chances you will hear it are a lot less likely than the chances your doctor will even TRY. Most doctors will not try that early because it causes the mother a lot of anxiety until her next appointment when it is more likely to be heard.

Well my dr put me on progesterone supplements and he said he wants me to take them until we can hear a heartbeat. I figured he would try at that appt because I will almost be out of the prescription he wrote at that point. But maybe you're right. Maybe he won't try until I come back around 14-15 weeks.

I was 10w1d yesterday, normal size but fairly large pelvis and the MW couldn't find it, she tried....they did do a quick US there, they ahve a small machine and I saw the baby totallying wiggling around, and it measured 10w5d - I don't think I've ever heard it before 12 weeks myself.
The size of the pelvis might have something to do with it as well, if the uterus is still buried down there and the babe is at the bottom or moving around...

Good luck!

I agree with a pp, your dr. probably wont do the doppler at 9 weeks. Typically the progesterone is done during the first tri. I know my dr. doesnt check hb with a doppler until 13 weeks, and he goes on and on about the possibility of not being able to find it at that point.

They have always given it it a try with me in the 9th week. Heard one and three but #2 hid. Heard her at the 14 week visit.

I was that far along when we heard ds' heartbeat on doppler. The doctor made sure to warn me that he wouldn't expect to hear it at this stage, but there it was!

Heard it at around 10 weeks with this pregnancy, I believe.

the Doppler heard this one at 7w4d, even if my mw and I couldn't hear it. She has a super sensitive machine. It was hard to find but audible at 11w.
Until this pg though, I've never had a provider look for it before 12w, unless it was suspected that I was miscarrying. If it's important to you to try, then by all means ask!

with a 3mghz doppler i heard both this baby and my 2nd at 9 wks and 4 or 5 days .. this time i did it myself, and last time was at the doc. with my first, we couldn't hear the HB at 10 wks 5 days though, tried again a few days later and easily found it... this time my midwife couldn't here it until 15/16 weeks this pregnancy (2mghz, she could find it with my doppler at 12 wks but not her's)

I'll echo that I really doubt the doc will try to find a hb at 9 weeks. It's possible, but really you have to luck out and get positioned perfectly, which can take quite a bit of time. Most providers won't look before 12 weeks because it can just cause a lot of stress.

My midwife tried with my first baby at 10 weeks and couldn't find it. It stressed me out and made us worry. It was loud and clear at the next visit.

Depending on the machine, your body, baby's position etc. you might be able to hear it but I wouldn't even want to try. Not hearing it, even when it makes sense that you wouldn't, can cause unneccesary stress and worry.

Well we saw the heartbeat on u/s at 6.5 weeks - then at 11 weeks had my next appt and my dr. said HE heard it briefly, but I sure didn't. But at my 15 week appt he picked it right up loud and clear.
