Thin Post Pregnancy Mommy???? Í want to know how!!

I've lost weight since I gave birth 7 months ago, but I have seen women who's newborns are like 2 months and you can't even tell they were pregnant 2 months back! They have flat tummies!! What's the trick?

I think in a big way it is genetic. For me, yoga and a traditional foods diet has helped me have the healthiest body I have had in my life. I had lost much of my weight withing a year of giving birth. I have never had a flat belly and I don't now, but it is strong. It looks as it should.

Well with my DD it never came off, I just stayed fat with her for some reason, I think purely hormonal. I've never had a flat tummy though, I'm a curvy girl.

Now this time I am 9 months PP and with DS I weighed the same I did when I got pg with him he was born(10lbs leftover from DD), but this time I was magically in my clothes at no joke 5 days PP. I wore my pre-preggy pants, although they hurt me a bit because I had a c/s due to medical complications from DD's birth. Still though, I weigh less now then I did with her PP, I keep loosing weight too. I lost 5 lbs recently when I started my new job, I am wearing shorts that I hadn't worn since I got pg with DD 4 years ago.

I have no idea why this time it's easy and last time I was a fatty for years.

probably by not gaining 130 lbs like i did lol i lost 30 of it by 6 weeks and another 50 since then, so just 50 more to go

my sil gained 40 lbs and was back in her size 2's at 6 weeks. not a stretch mark on her. you'd never guess she had 2 kids

Genetics for one. My mom is this way. Always went home in pre-pg clothes! I lose it, but not that fast. Breastfeeding and staying dairy free make me get down quicker and keep the weight off. I do walk and bike a lot, too.

I don't know anyone irl who was back in their pre pg clothes in that little amount of time! Idk, I would guess a lot of it must be genetic. For me, personally, my stomach goes back flattish, but I'm wider. When I say flattish, I don't mean flat, just that I don't have a big bump anymore, lol

I'm one of those, sorry : ( I don't know how or why, but I don't think it's genetics, as my mom's side of the family is generally overweight. How have I lost my pregnancy weight gain so quickly? I'm at loss as to how to loose weight, but eat so you feel good in body and spirit, that's what I do; if some food makes me not feel healthy, I avoid it thereafter. I eat lots of fresh organic veggies, fruit and proteins, not much dairy, but lots of water. I have a wheat allergy, so I don't eat breads/pastas - could that be the ticket? I take a walk every day, I breastfeed my lo...

This is baby #3 for me- I usually lose my weight by 4 months pp and then down to size by 6 -7 months although this time- I was in my pants by 4 months. However, it isn't easy for me- I start exercising as soon as possible and always watch what I eat. I am grain/gluten, dairy, soy free and very sugar lite. My belly went down way faster this time. Not sure if that is why or not. I had hoped I would pop back even sooner but I guess that is pretty good.

However, I think the ability to bounce back into your clothes within a weeks time is mostly some weird luck. I had a friend that did that w/ all 3 kids- in her clothes in a weeks time. She never exercised and had a soda addiction.

I say treat your body the best you can- w/ good food= good sleep(as best as you can manage) and activity(as you feel able and have time) and your body will come back in it's own time. As long as you pay attention to those things it will happen-for some that will be weeks and some months or a yr or more. It doesn't necessarily follow that the sooner you bounce back the healthier or more virtuous you are.

I am back in my prepregnancy clothes. I was weighing 120 lbs before I was pregnant. I got up to 158 lbs. I am weighing around 138, but I don't have a thin waist like I used to. It's rather frustrating. Plus my boobs are much bigger, aren't as perky, plus I have stretch marks on my breasts, stomach and tops of my theighs. It's rather depressing for me...I used to love my body! I was feeling great about my body before I got pregnant. Now I just feel...blah. At least I don't look pregnant any more, though I do have a lil' belly still left over.

Genetic Celebrities

I call those people genetic celebrities. Frustrates me to no end b/c I have an extremely healthy diet, exercise consistently, have an active (not desk) job and struggle to lose every single pound, while my friend eats HORRIBLY and has lost it all in only 7 weeks.

BTW: I came home from the hospital 4lbs HEAVIER than when I went in!!! (Who has an 8+lb baby, 3lb placenta and comes out 4 lbs heavier!?!) I swear, my OB's scale is broken.....

SO, If it's not due to the whole genetic celebrity thing, then I'm going to rationalize my friends weight loss as her nutrition was soooo horrible with all the empty calories, her body had to metabolize itself to get the nutrients she needed. True or not, it makes me feel better :-)

Well, some things will never be exactly the same. I think we have to be honest about that as this current culture that has that expectation is demeaning to women and the awesomeness of motherhood. Not that we have to stay overweight- I think it is just as harmful to women to assume we cannot lose the weight or must be permanently overweight. Stretchmarks are there forever though- your boobs may never look the same. I had a hard time adjusting at first as well. I still see my stretch marks, my extra skin but I love my body as well. I think there are 2 components. Loving yourself no matter what and you can also work on getting in better shape. Have you checked your stomach for muscle separation? Does the size change- is it a bloating perhaps that varies? Have you looked into the "Lose your Mommy Tummy" book?

I agree. I'm certainly not an example of what one SHOULD do, as especially after DS2 I was not taking care of myself. But, some bodies will just be more permanently affected from the childbearing/nurturing process than others. My skin does not stretch well. It just doesn't. And those stretch marks aren't budging. They've faded a bit, but not a lot! And various things like that.
I am working on getting in better shape and losing more weight, but I'm never going to look like a woman who hasn't had babies.

I'm one of these women... I was back in my clothes within a couple weeks of giving birth... back to prepreg weight in a month. I eat healthy and exercise but how quickly weight comes off postpartum seems to be a crap shoot. I agree with the previous poster who said it must be mostly luck.

I like to work out and alway have. Cardio and strength training at least 5 days a week. My nutrition before kids was terrible. Now it is excellent. I will not starve myself to be skinny. I eat delicious healthy foods.

With #1 I was 115 when I got pregnant, 140 when I had her and NEVER was 115 again. DD was 2 1/2 weeks late and I had a few stretch marks around my belly button from that pregnancy. I was thin again 125lbs perhaps 4 months after DD's birth but with my GIANT DD+ nursing boobs I looked heavier. I did have a flat tummy though.

With #2 I was 125lbs when I got pregnant, 160lbs when I had him and he was 1 1/2 weeks late. I remember having a pooch after having DS. My lower abdomen was really stretched out. I had to work to get rid of it, not too hard though. By 6 months it was greatly improved, flat but I still had extra skin there. My abdomen also got some really nice stretch marks from DS's pregnancy around my belly button to my pubic bone. 5 years later they are fading and I may buy a bikini this summer to show off my bod. I am 126lbs right now and very fit.
