suggestions please - box of National Geographics

I have a big box of old National Geographic magazines, some as far back as the late 70's. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with them,a fter I try to read some of them myself. My boys are not very crafty, but I don't want to just throw them away. Our used book store isn't accepting them right now because they have an abundance of their own, and are having a hard time selling them as it is.

All suggestions welcome.

I have them on the bookshelf and my kids go through them all the time. Otherwise if we have duplicates, I let them use them to cut up and make collages with.

Have you tried Craigslist?

Senior Centers or Nursing homes? Day Care Centers or Elementary schools?

Keep them! I scour all the time for used nat'l geographic mags for the photos. I'm not sure how old your dc are, but we use photos for notebooking collages.

They're a great reasource for that. It's hard to find free photos online that print well enough for collage material (I think, but then I'm challenged that way).

We actually just ordered our first sub to that mag yesterday.

HTH!

My dad has huge shelves full of them going back to the 30's and they are nearly impossible to sell, with the exception of a few issues. He's looked into getting someone to take them and, even though they are a complete set going back nearly 80 years, it would require paying someone to haul them off. Apparently lots of people have collections of them. If you really need them gone and don't mind boxing them up and delivering them yourself a place like a nursing home would be a good place to call otherwise keeping them might be the best option.

Local artists (even just casual crafters) who do collage would love them if you can figure out how to find them - places that provide arts and crafts would probably have collage going on.

You could have a collage party! - Lillian

I recently donated a large box of board games to the local homeless shelter.

We made some neat animal classification cards with magazines last year. You could do some cool nature decoupage.
