Checking Cervical Position With A Tipped Cervix - What area do I record?

I was told while pregnant with my son that I have a tipped cervix. I never really paid much mind to it until recently when ttc and checking CP. I'm not sure which way it's tipped, but when I check cp it's really really hard to know how to record it, so I typically wind up NOT recording anything for fear of getting false positive or false negative O result.

I typically check cp with one leg up on the toilet. In this position the opening is pressed up against my belly (If I want to squeeze cm out of it I need to poke at it or wedge a finger between it and the wall (which is the back of my belly) Not terribly easy to do, as one might imagine, but I make do. However, checking cp in this position is very hard. The opening is almost always up high.. sometimes higher than others. Then the rest is kinda a downward slant toward my back like this / with the opening at the top and the rest sloping down. So, if this is the case what part do I record? The lower part? Or the place where the opening is?

OR do I choose another position to check it in where it's more direct, such as sitting on the toilet where the opening is straight in?

I know my doctor said lying on my back was the way to rest after bding to help the little guys go where they are going, so the opening shifts toward the bottom (by my back) when lying down to bd.. other than that I'm lost as to how to chart my CP. Can anyone help?

record it whatever way you want, you arent recording an actual distance but rather for YOU what is low/medium/high

for example, for me high is so high I cant feel it. if I can feel it at all (including with a struggle) its either medium or low (medium if its high up there but I can feel it, low if I can feel it without stretching at all)

The thing is the part toward my back is always kinda low and the opening is always kinda high. Which side should I go by? I do know there's times I can barely reach the opening and that's likely high, but like today, the low part is right there - no struggle to reach and the high part where the opening is, is higher where it's barely able to be touched with my fingers. So, is this a high day or a low day? That's the main area of confusion.

If I had to guess right now, I'd say a low day as the cm is creamy (like watered down hand lotion).

gummibears ~ I don't check CM internally, so I have no advice for you. But I have a retroverted uterus as well. I had been told years ago but never thought anything else about it. I went for my annual in Nov 2009 with a new MW on O date. My cervix was so high she could barely find it. She advised I should bd with DH behind or roll over on my stomach afterward. I did this and got pg the second cycle after the appt after 1.5 years of trying.

I have read that it is usually hereditary. And now when I think back, my mom never used BC, and only got pg twice (with me and one mc). So it is kinda like a built in BC for me, I guess....if I had to find a silver lining.

Anyway, of course it is possible to get pg without rolling over with a retroverted uterus...but it is worth a shot, right??

The strange things was during my preconception visit 3 months ago I asked her about the tipped cervix. She said that it was "Right there" and she could see it just fine. I also brought up the lying on belly afterward (as I had tried that at that point and everything slid out even MORE after doing that) and she said lie on my back. Since then I've laid down in position we use for BD and felt for opening and it slides downward against my back oddly enough. So hubby doesn't have to aim up against belly anymore when we bd (which is good because it was causing some strange sensation in him anyway) but rather mid level or so.

I conceived my son in 8 weeks - not trying and I've often tried to remember what it was that we did then. I know it was basic not deep and missionary style. Beyond that I can't recall.

I'm not sure how to take her words, because when I was pregnant with my son and getting an ultrasound they said it was tipped and had to proceed vaginally as a result to see him. They also said not to worry, so I didn't until trying for another and I suddenly worried there'd be issues as things slide out now (which makes sense since I did have a baby and it's widened as a result) In any event, we are hoping in the next month or two we
ll get it - as that's my birthday and the only "gift" I want is this baby. That would be 6 months of trying (including the first two or so that were ruined due to stress), so here's hoping. We aren't sure if the half trying this and next month will work for or against us, LOL

As for the hereditary thing, I'm not sure about my mom. I was an only child and I don't know usage of BC or whatnot in those years. It does make me wonder, not that I'm going to ask her or anything.

If we still fail to get pg over the next couple months we might switch positions all around. I'm willing to try anything at this point so long as it helps things move along. :P I do notice that propping up hips in air (pillows don't work they just flatten and it all slides out anyway) does help keep it in for a bit - hopefully long enough for them to find their way.

I've seen posts where the ladies use the diva cup after bding. They say it holds all the little swimmers at your cervix. Sounds like something that may help you. You have to search for it though. I'm not sure how long you wear it or any other details. I may have seen it on the TCOYF forums.

Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!!!!

not the diva cup... instead softcups. Diva is too deep, but the instead is more shallow and holds them up there.

Oh, those do sound good. I could assure they don't slip out. I assume some get in there anyway, but I always worry more come out than go in O_o.

I'm putting those on my list to get asap. Thanks for the suggestion! Do you ladies know if they can be reused? I see that they are intended to be disposable, but bding so much we'd go through quite a few (unless we get lucky with the first pack... haha wishful thinking there) and the costs could get fairly high.

I've read on other threads here that the Instead Cups can be reused, just rinse them thoroughly before re-inserting. I'm thinking about picking some up to hold things in, too. Good luck!

Kinza thank you. :-) I told DH I was considering ordering these up as soon as I get more cash for Amazon. In the meantime we will see what nature cooks up for us. If this past month was any indicator, we might not need them. Hrm. More wishful thinking me thinks. :P
